- Windows XP >> no dialup on ie openHi all
Strange problem on xpsp2 home machine.
When i open ie it doesn't bother making the dun box appear.
Possibly the result of gad-networks.com malware.
Even pgraded to ie7 but when offline I just get the following
res://ieframe.dll/dnserrordiagoff.htm
Outlook and firefox are happy to dial the usd adsl modem automatically,
after which ie will work ok.
Have done all of the obvious- eg delete modem/ dialup
accounts/neverdial-when network not present-dial default/quickly
scanned registry.
Have spent hours googling and following the advice given to others but
to no avail.
Am confident that the pc is malware free.
Haven't come across this before so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

- Windows XP >> anyone with a problem with norton antivirus 2003I was having major problems installing this when I
upgraded to Windows Xp. I had about 4 different error
messages tried uninstall and reinstall but nothing
worked. I found a solution if anyone else has this
problem go to the Symantec site and download the
Rnav2003.exe removal utility let it delete the program
then reinstall. Mine is now working great

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> SP2 'breaks' Windows ExplorerHello. I just did a fresh install of XP Pro, and then I
installed SP2 right after. Everything is fine, except
that my Windows Explorer utility is having problems. I
have two physical Hard Drives and the second HD has two
Partitions. In Windows Explorer, when I click on the
left hand pane, to see the last partition of the second
HD, Drive G:\, Windows Explorer takes a significant time
to show the contents of Drive G:\-about 2-3 minutes. And
if I click on Windows Explorer while it hangs, it crashes
and takes down Explorer.exe as well (thought, after a few
seconds I return to a normal desktop.) But if I wait it
out, eventually G: drive content showsup, but I have to
wait way TOO Long!
But this doesn't occur if I use 'My Computer' icon on the
desktop. I can click on G:\ drive w/o any problems. And
if I'm in Windows Explorer and I first click on My
Computer first, and then click on the G:\ drive icon on
the RIGHT side pane, no problems. Only when I click on
G:\ drive on the left do I get issues. BTW, I first
tried out SP2 after I upgraded from a XP install with
SP1a and I never had this problem. Only after the fresh
XP install?
Anyone have any ideas of what I can try to do to fix this?
Thanks a million

- Windows XP Support >> IE7 problem to open linksHi,
When I try to open Adobe Reader from a link, I get an error message: "You
have no admission to the unit ...." The program is installed and works and I
have administrator privileges. (The link opens if I have opened Adobe Reader
beforehand). The same happens when trying to open certain radio stations. I
had no such problems before installing IE7. Can anybody advice me how to get
back to normal again?
Thank you.

- Windows XP >> Application Install ProblemI cannot install a program called Universal OCR in my new
computer with XP Home. All other apllications install
fine. This program installed fine in my old computer with
Windows 98SE. The install stops immediately, saying there
isn't enought space in the hard drive. The hard drive is
a 30Gb drive with 27Gb approx free. Have checked
everything I can think of including Confignt and
Autoexecnt files. Any help gratefully accepted. Thanks

- Windows XP Setup >> Windows XP install with external CD driveI am trying to install XP on a newly installed Maxtor hard
drive. Since the external CD drive requires a driver for
the cpu to recognize the drive, I cannot run setup from
the CD.
I downloaded the diskette version of XP. Then attempted
to run setup from the A: drive. It went through the
motions of loading the 6 disketts. It then asked for the
CD to be loaded. Of course this dosen't work because the
CD Drive is not active at this point.
Your help would be greatly appreciated.

- Windows XP Support >> Bluetooth Adapter needs Generic driversI did this before....
As i recall in win98 etc, if u didnt want to use the recommended driver for
lets say a printer, you could choose from ANYTHING you liked, heck you could
install it as a mouse. It wouldnt work but you could.
Now in winxp it wont let you do jack all, so when i want to install the
generica bluetooth radio drivers for my bluetooth dongle, i had to open the
sp2 inf file and alter the Pid's around so that it installed as a generic
radio automatically....
Then windows crashed burned and died, the repair function didnt work, so
reinstall, now i have to do it again and i dont remember where the inf file
for bluetooth radio's is...
Can any1 help or show me another way of simply installing different drivers
for the radio...
Cheers

- Windows XP >> Slowing down a program under XPI need to slow down a program to use it on my new fast PC running XP Home.
Does anyone know if "Moslo.com" works under XP?
If not, is there something similar that will slow down programs running

Thanks.

- Windows XP Network >> VPN help neededI have a task that has been given me for which I am having trouble working
out a solution.
While I have quite a bit of LAN experience, my WAN knowledge is rather
limited.
I have a network currently setup as follows:
DSL Internet --> DSL Router
DSL Router ---> Hub ---> Server 1
| \--> Workstation
|
\--> Switch ---> Server 2
\--> 8 Workstations
***** Here's what I *NEED* to be able to do:
1> I have to find a way for people in an office 20 miles away to have a
remote connection to one of the Workstations on Server 2's workgroup.
2> I would like to not purchase any additional software.
3> Both locations have broadband internet connections.
4> I think a VPN connection would work best for this project, but I am
unsure how to set one up, especially through a router.
NOTES:
All computers are new Dell desktops running WinXP Pro with all the latest
service packs and hotfixes installed.
Server 1 and the one workstation HAVE to be a specific workgroup name.
Server 2 and the associated 8 workstations HAVE to be a different specific
workgroup name.
The Router is a 3COM OfficeConnect Secure Router 3CR860-95.
I have two static IP's available for use from my ISP.
The computers on the remote location are all running Windows 2000 Pro and
are part of a domain with an old NT 4.0 server.
I've seen you guys work miracles with other tech problems posed here. I'm
hoping for some of that help to come my way.
Thanks in advance,
Brian Beckers

Windows XP Setup >> Roxio not working on reinstall
I needed to reinstall my software that came with my new PC due to constant
crashing issues. Everything has worked perfectly until I reinstalled my
Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3.4 SP8 Basic. When I attempt to burn a CD, I get a
"Cannot create Creator" error message. I have tried the repair but no luck.
Any other ideas? Thanks!

Go to www.roxio.com . You'll find troubleshooting links and FAG's there.
They also offer a users forum, but you'll have to register. Good luck.

I thought so too, that's why I put it in quotes so folks would know it was
an actually error message. Curt knew what it meant and told me how to fix
it, which is all I asked for!

remove the 'shadow' - it is easily done on CRT monitor but I don't know how

- Windows XP >> Emachine M2350 won't boot WindowsHi y'all,
A couple nights ago I left my computer on and the next day I found the
laptop doing some strange boot process where it would automatically
boot after 30 seconds or it would ask me how i wanted to boot windows..
my friend was able to pull up a screen by using F8 and determined that
the problem was caused by a Windows update called Service Pack 2..
I've been in contact with emachines tech support for the past week
hoping that they would help me get my computer back into running mode
but unfortunately nothing has helped so far.. I ordered the Restore CD
packaged and recieved it in the mail today. I attempted to use these
cds but nothing happened when i put it in my dvd/cd drive.
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? HOW DO I DO SYSTEM RESTORE USING THESE CDS?
