Windows XP Update >> Windows Installer Service / BITS Win2k updated.
Occassionally using MSupdate the update fails. (recent problem)
Checking Services I find that both BITS and Windows Installer Service are
set to auto, and whilst BITS is started Installer service is not.
Manually starting Installer Service allows update success.

On other occassions I find BITS has reset to manual, though its dependancy
services are auto.
Any ideas as to why?
TY

Windows XP Update >> Windows Installer Service / BITS BITS only needs to be set to Manual as does Windows Installer.
Automatic Updates must be set to Automatic to successfully install updates.
