You probably are going to have to reinstall Windows. Nothing to be
scared of. Start with a Repair Install. Here's a link to instructions:

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

If that doesn't work, format the drive, install Windows clean, reinstall
programs from cd's, restore data from backups. If you feel you can't do
this stuff yourself (and it's no shame if you do feel that way), make a
local computer repair person's Christmas a little brighter by calling
for help.

Windows XP >> a blue screen when boot up Hi,

Not a good place to be in, please read:

"STOP: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error" or "STOP: C0000221
STATUS_IMAGE_CHECKSUM_MISMATCH" Error Message Occurs
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314474

Basically, if you cannot access the system you will need to expand a new
copy of that file (ntdll.dll) while booted from the WinXP CD and running the
Recovery Console:

HOW TO: Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP [Q307654]
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=307654

Otherwise, you may need to do at least a repair installation.
