Windows XP >> Windows XP Pro and High screen resolution I have a new notebook with OEM Windows XP Pro. It is a
fantastic computer and XP works beautifully. The display
resolution defaults to 1920 X 1200 and the image is
great. Setting it at lower resolutions tends to make the
image fuzzy which is inherent in LCD screens, I
understand. I have set the DPI to 170% (173 DPI) and the
font is set to normal.

I understand that with higher resolutions, the pop ups
are smaller. Is there no way that XP can be tweaked to
give similar sized pop-ups as with 800X600 resolution?
For instance, the balloons with the animated "paperclip"
are very small with WORD and other Office programs. When
I type in a question in the help, it is very difficult to
read - very small.

I want to continue using the higher resolution - the
images are great and the print is very sharp. However, I
would think that XP would have a way to resolve the
variations in resolutions available now-a-days??

Any help and guidance will be most appreciated.
Norm.

That is where you need to adjust the DPI setting, so they come out
right. You can go as far as 200% (192 dpi) , but ought to try to make
the result match your display pixel size - number of lines divided by
actual screen height. 1920x1200 is BTW a very unusual size - and very
large indeed for a notebook, are you sure you have it right?

Windows XP >> Windows XP Pro and High screen resolution Thanks, Alex for your thoughts. The resolution 1920 X
1200 is correct. I have the new Dell Inspiron 8500 with
the highest resolution screen.
