- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Storing MM2 Project fileAfter capturing in DV-AVI, editing and then saving the
edited movie as DV-AVI...I end up with quite a sizeable
project folder for an hours worth of DV-AVI format movie.
Now I want to save the edited movie onto disk so that I
can go back to it at a later stage and also free up some
much needed HD space. The project folder (with the WMV
project file and edited movie) is some 13 gig in size. How
do i get this onto a DVD disk which only holds 4.7g
max ????. When I try and save to DVD as data, RecordNow DX
tells me that project folder is too large...Is there any
way around this....?? I want to be able to save my MM2
project to disk so that I can then load it back into MM2
when I want to re-edit the saved movie...any
help/uggestions would be greatly appreciated...

- Windows XP Security >> How to re-direct erros in cmd?Hi all,
When I run a batchfile in Windows and have it redirect it's output like so:
blah.bat > verify.txt
It sends error messages to the console, and not to verify.txt. How can I
get the error messages to go to verify.txt as well?

- Windows XP >> common folder at start upCan someone help me solve the problem with a common folder that is empty but
being opened on my desktop everytime I restart my computer? I am not the
smartest when it comes to computers so please speak slow lol thanks for your
help everyone.

- Windows XP >> lost datai had cut info from old disk and saved to new disk. when i tried to retrieve
info from new disk, an error message appeared, basically it couldn't read the
disk. my question is, can i retrieve info somewhere in the computer or is it
lost forever? thank you.

- Windows XP Network >> File and Printer SharingThinking back to Windows 98 I remember that to make files available to
another computer you first of all ticked a box to allow file sharing and then
changed the properties on the individual files to be shared. I have found
how to do the second part of the operation in Windows XP but cannot find the
Win XP equivalent of allowing file sharing. The question is asked by the
Network Setup Wizard but after making several changes while setting up a
network I have lost track of whether file sharing is currently allowed or
not. Is there an easy way to tell?

- Windows XP Network >> Installing home network problemI just bought a new computer with winXP. I'm trying to connect on my labtpop
with or without a router and I'm not able.
I ran may times the wizard, I installed on my labtop the program that the
wizard created.
There is 2 connections on the netwoks connections and I don't know witch one
use or there is no difference.
The name of the connections are:
1394 Connection Connected, Firewall 1394 Net Adapter
OR
Local Area Connection NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
The Workgroup is the same of the both computer.
Help please.

- Windows XP >> "My Search" is it needed?Running XP Pro and I notice that I find this program
constantly loading in the registry and in the Program
Files listing in explorer. I run Adaware 6.0 Pro and
Spybot to rid it, but invaribly it rears itself in the
same locations, even though I delete what Adaware and
Spybot finds. Is this spyware?, and if not, do I need
it? And how to rid it once and for all?

- Windows XP >> Repair/Install issueSomething to think about if for future computer problems. I recently did a
repair/install of WinXP SP2 and had to then install about 80 further
upgrades again. Then upgrade Internet Explorer from version 6.0 to 7.0.
Everything seemed to work OK but my printer was screwing up. It's a USB
printer. I checked the connections and it was good. Then I had a
revelation.
A lot of my external devices like the printer, scanner, USB hard drives I
have powered by a separate power strip. I leave it off most of the time and
only power it up when I need to use one of the external devices. Ding!
Ding! I just thought..... hey, the repair/ install might have lost the info
on those devices. When I power up my computer it "looks" for new devices.
But.... if that external power switch is off on boot up my computer won't
"see" them.
So, this morning before booting up, I powered all my external devices to on
and then booted up. Sure enough, what came up but numerous notices that
Windows had "discovered" a new external device and was setting it up for
use. Now everything works the way it used to.

- Windows XP >> Administrator PWI play quake 3 areana online. Or used to. I ran into this problem as of
recently.
I keep getting kicked from gameservers for "inadequete OS privaliges". That
means the program i'm using is not under admin.
When I right click and go to set it to run as admin, it wants a PW. I dont
know the PW. MY question is how do I find out that PW or change it?
Also, note im logged in as the owner, so It makes no sense. I have winXP
sp2.

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> computer freeze-mostly while on internet (cable modem)I am having problems with computer lock ups. Cannot
control+alt+delete to shut down any programs. Computer
will not shut down in the normal way. The only choice I
have is to turn the computer off, which can't be good
either.
The lock-ups occur mostly when on the internet, but some
recent ones have occured when in other programs (random).
I have ran diagnostics on the hard drive, processor,
memory and other system hardware. All pass.
I have done a restore to bring the computer back to its
original facory condition, I have upgraded to windowsxp.
If anyone can help, please do.

Windows XP Network >> XP and Routers
Hi,
I posted a message regarding this a few days ago. The
response I got was very helpfull which suggested
installing ZoneAlarm firewall software.
This seems to have found whats bring the router line up
and keeping it up.
My XP machine seems to be issueing a ICMP Echo Request
(ping) every two minutes to our DNS server. This is
therefore bring the router line up and never enabling it
to drop.
Has anyone any ideas what is causing this ICMP Echo
request and also how to stop it without the firewall
software installed.

Hi Ray,
Is the XP machine a member of a domain? If so it could be a domain locator
ICMP packet. If not a domain memberf it could be some application doing
some type of keep alive.

- Windows XP >> File names in blue and blackCould someone please tell me why some of my file names (in my documents, they
are usually attachments from email messages that I have saved, pictures and
jokes etc) are in blue text and some are in black text....what does this
mean? Can I change it so it is all the same? Cheers

- Windows XP Support >> Alright, I need help, I am at a loss..Ok, recently..within the last week and a half..I have had to reformat my hard
drive and reinstall Windows XP Professional...due to problems with viruses
and issues I couldn't resolve any other way. I just have one problem...ok
two...I have everything installed correctly, I believe, and it should all be
running smooth...I have all updates installed, except SP2, as I am behind two
firewalls and SP2 tends to cause serious difficulites with connecting to the
internet if I have it installed.
My computer has been freezing up and acting almost like I need some kind of
driver or there might be something wrong with the registry or the actual hard
drive itself. It will run smooth for awhile, a few minutes to a couple hours,
depending on what I'm trying to do, and then it will freeze for a few seconds
to a few minutes...sometimes I have to reboot cause it won't unfreeze...right
now I have hardly any programs installed other than the basics that come with
windows and things like Adobe Acrobat and a number of anti-virus (System
Suite 5, Microsoft Anti-Spyware,Ad-Aware,Spybot Search and Destroy) and
anti-adware/spyware programs. Can anyone tell me why my computer might be
behaving this way? Should I worry about the hard drive itself or might it be
something wrong with how I re-installed windows xp pro ? Thanks in advance
for any help.

- Windows XP >> Common Client Core 2.0.2I have been unsuccessful in downloading Norton's Live
Updates with either Norton's Internet Security Or
Norton's Systemworks. I cannot download Common Coient cc
Proxy 2.0.2 or Common Client Core 2.0.2. Does that mean
I have a corrupted file? Is there anyway I can fix? Can
I fix it by uninstalling and then reinstalling WINDOWS
XP? If I unistall WINDOWS XP will I lose everything onmy

- Windows XP Support >> shut down to prevent computer damageAfter haveing a lot of problems with this computer crashing, rebooting i
had a vpu recovery while playing star trek. Now it just shows a blue
screen and says WINDOWS HAS CLOSED DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE

get the error message that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and has
to close, but I do not get this with any of the other options in Search
Results such as searching for pictures, music or videos or documents or any
of the other options. Can anyone be of help in the resolution of this issue?

- Windows XP >> speaker icon dissappears from notification areaThere being various users on this pc, I often find that the volume control
icon has disappeared from my notification area. The 'customise section' of
the task bar properties does not seem to have a way of moving the icon from
the previously in use area, back to the currently in use area. How can one
get the control back without rebooting?

- Windows XP Network >> error 1727I cannot save internet logon password in windows xp. I
receive error 1727 when attempting to logon and the
message states remote procedure call fails to execute. The
dial-up connection will connect to the internet however
the password is not saved. Can anyone help?

- Windows XP >> Folder Options problem in Win XP ProI can not get windows explorer to show my files other than in the classic
style, ie 'Show Common Tasks in Folders' under Folder Options is not
working. Does anyone know if there is a key in regedit which needs manually
switching for this to work?
