same time to cut and paste from one to another etc. These start off by being
displayed individually on the task bar then suddenly they all appear on a

I would like to keep them individually displayed so I can click directly on
each one on the task bar.

Hello!
Have you set Cryptographic Service to Automatic mode?If the
problem still persists it may be the log file or database
corruption in the %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 folder.
To resolve the issue:-
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following commands, and
then press ENTER after each line:
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
Type exit to close the command prompt, and then install
security 328310

- Windows XP Network >> What is causing this connection attempt?Recently, I've started to get messages like this popping up suddenly,
apparently regardless of what application I'm using:
"You (or a program) have requested information from isatap. Which
connection do you want to use?"
It's rather similar to the message I get telling me that my Pocket PC
is (quite rightly) trying to connect to AvantGo, using Pass Through on
my PX (XP Home). But in that case I can always just Cancel if it's not
convenient to go online at that moment.
But in this case, on clicking Cancel, usually a similar message
appears again, but this time, instead of 'isatap' (whatever that is),
it says
"You (or a program) have requested information from 207.46.156.252."
That proceeds indefinitely. I noted these addresses in each message:
207.46.244.188.
207.46.249.252.
207.46.249.252.
207.46.250.222.
207.46.250.222.
207.46.250.252.
207.46.144.188.
207.46.144.222.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what's happening here please, and how to
stop it? (In reasonably non-technical terms if possible.) I expect it
will turn out to be something I've installed and forgotten about <g>.

- Windows XP Support >> No Audio No Network Browsing - Automatic Services Failing to StartI Have 50 PCs on my subnet that I manage.
Aprox 3 weeks ago a user complained he could not hear sound through
mediaplayer but sound worked on windows logon. I looked under device manager
and the device looked fine - I looked under sounds in control panel and It
said "No Audio Device". I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers - No luck.
I also found that when you try to type in a UNC path to network share on
that PC an error msg displays saying it's can't be located...also you cannot
browse the network. NOW i've got 5 computers with these symptoms. I have
ran Virus scans with AVG and ran Spybot...All Clean. I'm stumpted. If I
start the workstation service I temporarly get network, but a minute later it
shuts down on its own.
All users are on a Workgroup running XP sp2 all recent updates, windows
update set to install automatically. I have not made any network changes in
several months nor installed any new network wide software. The users are in
different buildings and also do not have access to same shares. A format
and reinstall of XP fixes the issue... Reinstall of network adapter, client
for microsoft, etc does not get network back either.
Problem on one machine no biggie...2 machines concidence...3...4...5
machines is an issue. Is there a possibility that a windows update could
have played havoc on some of my systems?
Ran Services.msc and sorted by automatic and the following services are not
starting on all machines:
Automatic Updates
Computer Browser
Cryptographic Services
DHCP Client
Distributed Link Tracking Client
Error Reporting Service
HID Input Service
Logical Disk Manager
Secondary Logon
Security Center
Server
Shell Hardware Detection
System Restore Service
Windows Audio
Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
Windows Time

Call Microsoft (Retail version) or the OEM you purchased the computer from.
The replacement media is usually $30-$50. Keep the serial number, you will
need it.

people from asking for a password if someone brings in a laptop to be looked

- Windows XP >> Keyboard/Mouse corrupt driver XP-SP2I have a Latitude C840, XP SP2 installed and it has a docking
station. I got a wireless keyboard/mouse and went to install it.
During install, it flashed something about the new driver not signed,
and I clicked on install anyway, screen flashed, it reboots... Ok...
well, it was ok until it gets to the welcome screen, neither the
external wireless keyboard or mouse work, nor do the built in touch
pad or keyboard work.
I've already plugged a usb keyboard and mouse into external usb ports,
and get nothing.
I've booted to a live CD and they work just fine. But from the live
CD, I'm not sure what to do and where to do it?
Any ideas?

- Windows XP Network >> Is IIS available with Win Xp Home Edition ?Hi!
I recently purchased a Compaq Persario, for my home usage.
It came pre-loaded with Win Xp Home edition.
After installing VS.NET, I found I can't work on ASP.NET
App development as IIS is missing.
I believe, IIS does not come with Win Xp Home edition, but
with Win Xp Professional is it ?
Can anyone suggest how do I go about it ?
Now do I have to purchase Win Xp Prof or is it possible
that I upgrade from Win Xp Home to Win Xp Prof ? How much
will it cost ?
I remember on Win 98 it was possible to develop ASP apps
without IIS, is the same possible in Win Xp Home edition ?
Thanks for any help you provide.

- Windows XP Network >> WaveLAN weirdnessI just upgraded a machine from Win98 to XP Pro. It
contains an Orinoco Wireless WaveLAN PC card. Before
installing XP, the wireless connection has functioned
flawlessly with all other computers on the LAN for about 4
years under Win98.
Now, with XP, my connection terminates after approx 1
minute of use for no apparent reason. If I open the
network properties dialog and press OK again, the network
will work again for about a minute, then terminate, and so
on.
I can connect to that machine from another XP Pro machine
no problem. It is in another building with an ethernet
connection to a WaveLAN Wireless Access Point.
Does anyone know why this may be happening? All worked
fine with Win98. What could possibly be terminating my
connection from the newly upgraded machine???
Thanks for any help,
