  - Windows XP Support >> Help please...My printer don't show up anymore in "Printers and Faxes" after running
    SpyRemover.
    
    Every time I try to reinstall it, all goes smoothly but end with the
    message:
    
    "Cannot Install this Hardware"
    EPSON Stylus C45 Series
    An error occuried during the instalation of the device.
    The requested section was not found in the INF.
    Click Finish to close the wizard."
    
    I use the original install CD from Epson.

  - Windows XP >> keyboard delay settingI use the control pane to change the keyboard delay to long and it works
    fine for the session. When I reboot it returns to the short delay. How do I
    keep this setting over all sessions. Any help here would be appreciated.

  - Windows XP Support >> Privite FoldersI had a corrupt Windows install so i reinstalled XP Pro. I had renamed the
    old Documents and Settings folder before I reinstalled. Now when i try and
    access the files in the renamed Documents and Settings folder I get access
    denied.
    
    Is there a way to get back into the old folder?

  - Windows XP Support >> usb2 device not connecting at high speedWhe I connect my 250Gb external USB2 hard drive it comes up with the
    following message. "This device can perform faster if connected to a
    high speed usb port." All ports on PC are usb2 and I have tried all of
    them. I am running XP Pro, service PAck 2. I have downloaded latest
    chipset drivers for mainboard, and latest SIS usb2 drivers. THe drive
    still works but is very slow.

    I have just bought and installed Windows XP on my
    computer, and have successfully set up my Internet
    account.
    
    But within a few minutes of being connected, I keep
    receiving the following message:
    
    Windows must now restart because the RPC (Remote
    Procedure Call) terminated unexpectedly.

  - Windows XP Network >> XP machine cannot see vista machine because of rights?I just installed a new Vista machine onto a home network with two XP machines
    running on them. The vista machine sees all the shared folders on the XP
    machines, and my XP laptop sees the shared folders and printer on the vista
    machine. But the XP desktop does not see the vista machine when accessing my
    network places. However, when I select "view workgroup computers" on the XP,
    the Vista machine is displayed. And when I select properties for the vista
    machine in that window, I get an error message that reads "You do not have
    the appropriate access rights for the server." So my desktop knows the vista
    machine is there. All the machines use PC-cillin, and have the same firewall
    settings. But, I did once have Norton Antivirus on the desktop, but I
    removed it using the Norton Removal Tool. Is there a more speciific settting
    I have to make in the Vista machine or the XP machine to allow the XP to
    access the Vista shared folders?

    Dell support just has a link to Windows XP SP2.

    I have had a quick scoot on this site for multiple monitors, but didn't
    contain quite what I was looking for. Can you help?
    
    I would like to use WindowsXP pro with two monitors running on one
    machine. I would like one application to be running on one screen, and
    another application on another.
    
    I am not sure exactly what I need to acomplish this. I have a basic
    DELL, and would guess a good start would be to purchase a graphic card
    with another display out! :-)
    
    Any help regarding settings, and how this actually works would be most
    appreciated.

Windows XP Security >> Help and Support service not present I can't run msconfig or helpctr.exe directly from the XP
Start Menu anymore. I've searched the knowledge base and
discovered it may have something to do with the Help and
Support Service not running, but when I look under the
services list I can't find Help and Support! Please help.

Windows XP Security >> Help and Support service not present Chris,

Start > Run > "Services.msc"

In there will be the "Help and Support" service. If it's stopped you can
start it. The startup type should be set to "Automatic".

    running xp pro while the laptop is running xp home. i use to be able to shar
    files and browse their computer shared folders without a problem on all
    comps. but recently i tried accessing desktop 1 from my laptop and desktop 2
    it says that the comp is not accessible and that i might not have permission
    to use this network resource. Contact the admninistrator of this server to
    find out if you have access permissions. logon failure: the user has not
    been granted the requested logon type at this computer. but the desktop is
    able to access other computers. basically desktop 2 and the laptop is able to
    be accessed from any computer, only desktop 1 cant be accessed. it was
    working fine before but it just stopped working. i have net user guest turned
    on and i went secpol.msc and turned on the allow everyone selection on. but
    after i click apply and close it in matter of minutes the thing dissappears
    and i have to go through the process and turn it back on! PLZ HELP ME!

  - Windows XP MovieMaker >> Success!First, thank you to all those who gave me great advice (and lots of it) on my
    Movie Maker issues. I'm pleased to say that I am 99% pleased with the final
    outcome of my short film project.
    
    The only two issues I'm having difficulty with are...
    
    1. A slight "blip" in added music tracks at the point of insertion of any
    clips.
    2. Titling. It's a little tricky and each thime I think I've "got it", not
    unitl the burned product is played do I find "doubles" of the title. I get it
    dialed in, double check and BAM, it shows up.
    
    How can I be sure any title duplication is actually removed even though
    after clicking "add titles/done" they don't appear?

  - Windows XP Network >> unable to browse network resourcesI have a customer running NT4.0 as a PDC. This past week a
    client XPPro system has started acting up. The system logs
    into the domain OK with the default user but is unable to
    view resources on the network although internet access is
    still available. If I try to log in as another user "there
    is no domain available, or no permissions to use the
    network resources". The only software the user, (The
    company owner BTW), claims to have installed is the MS
    patches and updates that download automatically from MS.
    
    Answers anyone? I can blow the system away and reload but

  - Windows XP Support >> registry repairI made two small chages to the registry in an attempt to change hard drive
    designations. I needed to replace my C: drive. Well, now I realize that my
    efforts were unnecessary, and now Windows won't boot past the welcome screen.
    I can't even get safe mode to work. Safe mode starts properly then shifts
    over to normal mode. Now, is there a way to manually edit the registry from
    DOS, using a start-up disk? I know exactly what needs to be fixed and where,
    I just don't know how to do it outside of the Windows environment. I am aware
    of the console editor, reg.exe. Will that work?

  - Windows XP Hardware >> Chkdsk runs each time that I start my computerEach time that I start my computer, chkdsk runs the disk check of a partition
    (NTFS, non-system) on my hard drive. If I cancel the check, the system (WinXP
    Pro SP2) starts and runs fine. I've run several tests of my hard drive
    (Norton Disk Doctor, SpinRite, Ontrack Data Advisor), but all of them say
    that the HDD has no problems.
    I've read the article "Chkdsk Runs Each Time That You Start Your Computer"
    (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316506) from Microsoft Knowledge Base,
    but:
    1) chkdsk don't prevent the system to start and work well on my computer
    2) I don't use any scanners
    3) I haven't upgraded Windows from any version.
    So, can anybody tell me what can I do and how can I disable the chkdsk on
    Windows start (if it's possible)?

  - Windows XP Network >> Incoming ConnectionsI have 2 XP Pro PCs. One is part of a domain and is
    configured for incoming connections.
    
    When I dial in I can handshake with the modem but get the
    error "691 the username or password are not valid on the
    domain"
    I have tried the local machine name for domain,the domain
    name and left it blank. I have checked and changed
    username and password. I have also double checked
    authentication and tried both unsecure and secure. The
    users have permissions to dial in on the pc and on the
    domain controller. The users also have local permissions
    to remote control the pc
    
    Any Ideas?

  - Windows XP Hardware >> USB serial portMy laptop doesnt have a serial port so i use a usb /serial cable. This works
    fine but i have 1 problem. When i connect the cable is doesnt always set up
    with the same com port #, could be com 8 today or com 6 tommorrow. How can i
    keep the cable on the same com # whenever it is detected?
    
    Any info would be appriciated.
