Windows XP Setup >> xp home or pro Greetings --

Do you need/want the additional networking and security
functionality that WinXP Pro provides?

The two versions are identical when it comes to performance,
stability, and device driver and software application compatibility,
but are intended to meet different functionality, networking,
security, and ease-of-use needs, in different environments. The most
significant differences are that WinXP Pro allows up to 10
simultaneous inbound network connections while WinXP Home only allows
only 5, WinXP Pro is designed to join a Microsoft domain while WinXP
Home cannot, and only WinXP Pro supports file encryption and IIS.

"Which is better?" That depends entirely upon the uses to which
you put your computer, the network environment in which you'll operate
it, your specific security needs, and your level of computer
knowledge.

Windows XP Setup >> xp home or pro Jeff;
If your computer is running fine and there are no desired features
that Pro can provide stay with Home.
When/if the time comes to reload, then install Pro since you already
have it.
Windows XP Home and Pro are identical in performance and stability.
The differences are mostly added security and additional networking
capabilities.
See this link for more about the differences:

Windows XP Setup >> xp home or pro Don't know. If you need, or will need to join a domain, or if you need IIS,
load the Pro Edition. Is it the full edition or the upgrade. Since you
mentioned that your computer came with XP Home, that infers that the OS you
currently have is an OEM version, so you'll need the full retail version of
XP Pro, as OEM's cannot be upgraded.
