help needed to repair installation / recover data

Windows XP Security >> help needed to repair installation / recover data Hi everyone

I'm changing my computer and was in the process of moving all my data from
the old to the new view a firewire network. I couldn't get this to work
today so ended up unplugging my old hard drive and plugging in into my new
computer so i could copy the files across.

I was an idiot, because when i did that i found that the files were in a
user account so i could not access them from my new windows XP. (My old
computer is also XP with the files stored as NTFS)

So i plugged the hard drive back into my old computer so that i could move
them to a guest account - but this time when i booted up the old computer
windows won't load! The hard drive must have been changed somehow when i
plugged it into the new computer...

More specifically,windows boots up, but i don't get any accounts to log into
at the end of the boot up sequence, just the pale blue screen with a windows
logo.

How do i save my data?

When you first moved the old hard drive over, you should have just taken
ownership of the files. Plug the old hard drive back into your new
computer as slave and follow the "take ownership" instructions at the
