Windows XP Update >> Error 0xD0000006 installing updates KB901214 & KB903235 Geoff,

Sorry to bring bad news but my problems were caused by a failing hard drive.
I just managed to get all my data off before it died completely.
I think if you can't get chkdsk to work then do a back up as soon as you can
!!!

Windows XP Update >> Error 0xD0000006 installing updates KB901214 & KB903235 I am also in the same boat. Problem began when I installed the latest
Windows Installer and a cumulative XP security patch in November or December
2005 that "froze" the desktop (for 2 hours). I got the infamous "blue
screen" after powering off/on, but after 3 reboots the boot issue cleared up.
Forced chkdsk to run and it cleaned a multiple sectors. I'm no longer
getting auto updates and all attempts to update fail giving the same error.

Windows XP Update >> Error 0xD0000006 installing updates KB901214 & KB903235 Success, finally..... Downloaded and installed latest updates. I saw
another thread where someone finally resolved their problem by running (or
scheduled chkdsk c: /r) to run a second time by booting in Windows Safe mode
and going to the command prompt. Two additional bad sectors were found and
cleaned up. (Before I ran chkdsk by booting in Safe command line mode.) Hope
this helps.

Windows XP Update >> Error 0xD0000006 installing updates KB901214 & KB903235 Thank you very much rcoufan (or Bod)!!!

I had the same problem and there was no solution anywhere until I found this
post.

To the people of microsoft: The error code 0xD0000006 is more common than
you imagine it, please write an article about how to repair this problem.

Bye,

David
