Windows XP Update >> Error 8007F00D Everytime I try to intstall Security Update for Windows XP (KB828741), it
keeps telling me that the installation failed. The error code is 8007F00D
and sometimes the error code is just F00D. I tried to install it from
automatic updates and it didnt work so I tried to install it from the Windows
Update website and thats when the error code changed to F00D.

Can someone help me please?

Windows XP1177

Windows XP Update >> Error 8007F00D It may be that this code is only a summary code and the useful information
about your problem will be indicated by another code or text string.

Check your logs for other messages in the same timestamp context.
E.g. search your harddrive for files which contain 8007F00D
You could also search for 2146963443 since 8007F00D as as signed
Dword is -2146963443 (decimal.)

Also since the update you are having trouble with has been involved
in many previous discussions please have a look at them for more ideas.

Windows XP Update >> Error 8007F00D I had been seeing the same message for the same download
on a notebook. Not much help with the message at all.

I tried various things, but what seemed to work (I'm not
100% certain that this was the fix, since I tried so many
different things) was applying the method in the KB
article 248439, "WINUP: Using Stepping Mode to Diagnose
Download and Installation Failures". You must edit the
Registry to force Windows Update (when launched from your
machine) to work in steps. It also gives better feedback
on problems. It got to a step during which it was backing
up system files, and it threw up a message that it was
unable to copy a file by name of "clbcatq.dll". The
suggested remedy on that window was nonsensical, but the
next window asked if I wanted to continue without backing
up that file. Thrilled, I selected 'Yes', and the update
seemed to proceed without a hitch after that. All seems to
be well with it.

Now I just have to decide whether or not to load SP2. (I'm
thinking that I won't for a while).

Good luck!
