Windows XP Security >> Changing Windows XP Professional Operating System Password I have a computer that I would like to give to my daughter. It is password
protected at start-up - not user password. Before I get to Windows XP it
asks me for a password. I have to type in the password in order to get into
XP and the user/adminstrator passwords. Does anyone have any idea how to
change this password on start-up or to delete it all together. This was a
business machine and would not like to give out this password.

Windows XP216

Windows XP Security >> Changing Windows XP Professional Operating System Password Cathie;
That is the BIOS password.

During boot there will briefly be a message similar to "Press ** to enter
setup"
Typical keys are F1, F2, Esc, Delete and others.
Immediately press the key.
You will then need to navigate to the section about passwords.
Since this is a motherboard and not Windows issue, different manufacturers
do it differently.
Check your manual and/or contact the manufacturer for details.
