- Windows XP >> Not booting up after recent updates (jan 3,2008)I hope any of you could help me out with this bizarre problem!
On Jan 3, 2008, i checked the windows updates, and saw critical updates plus
optional as well...i added video card updates (optional)...my mistake! I
regret! I should have gone to manufacturer's site to download new updates
instead of through windows updates.
Now I can boot up to view POST and Windows Logo...when arrived at
desktop...all black except for 2 white and 1 red pixels at very top of
screen. I tried going into safe mode...stopped at "pagp.sys," it hung up. I
cannot make "last known good configuration" work either...NOTHING that i
could access. I even tried switching video cards that i have on hand...all
not work, even can see POST and Logo, no problem. I had the same video card
for a year now...no problem until that dang optional update!!
I contacted ATI for help...SLOW respond, but at least did reply but my last
reply...on hold. S I G H!
I could try the repair using win xp CD, but how do i instruct it to remove
display driver? I hope to hear from you today!

- Windows XP Security >> home networkI have 4 pc all networked. PC1 is the internet gateway. All Pc's can use
the net. But PC2,3,4 cannot logon to PC1 to use the shared drives or use the
printer. I get "Log On filed. You do not have requested authority for this
computer". Or words to that effect. I get this from PC2,3,4, but these 3
can access/use any shared drives on PC2,3,4. PC1 can access the others no
problem. PC2,3,4 seem to think PC1 is a server.
I have never used any passwords on any machine. The system used to work,
then didn't.
All pc's use XP Pro.
Please help, I have tried everything I know :((

- Windows XP Network >> XP notebooks slow to login when not on LANWe have several notebooks (XP SP2) that are all members of our domain. The
people who use them use domain user accounts to login to the notebooks. When
these notebooks are used in the office login takes no time at all and the
notebooks basically respond as our workstations do.
Whenever these notebooks have a "non-corporate LAN" network connection (ie.
wireless at home, etc) connected before initial login, XP hangs for ~90
seconds before displaying the desktop and icons.
With the network connection disabled or unplugged, login takes less than 20
seconds.
Does anyone know of a way in Windows to decrease this delay?
Thanks

server. I cannot change the date function in the
software, although other users running Windows 2000 can

Can anyone suggest a way of making the date in windows

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Importing video clipsI have a number of video files from a Sony video camera.
I am trying to import them into movie maker so I can join them together and
save as a single file. Every time I try I get the strange error message

many methods to fire events from."
Can anyone explain what this means and how to fix it?

- Windows XP Hardware >> Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 won't "click" reliablyI have a Wireless Desktop: Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 and Wireless Comfort
Keyboard 1.0A
My problem is the mouse. When I reboot my computer, it all works great.
After a while, it doesn't "click" reliably. Everything else works! Moving
the pointer, the wheel, etc. But the left or right button may take a LOT of
clicks to actually get it to work (either single or double clicks). Or, it
may work fine.
It is on a wooden desk. no metal. The mouse is about 1.5 feet from the
transmitter.
Here is the odd thing, It appears to be a software issue. After I reboot, it
works fine! For a while.
I've replaced the batteries, no change.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bob

- Windows XP Network >> Javascript issues after SP2I have two computers, both with XP professional. Within
the last week I updated with SP2 on both. Now both have
the identical problem of having javascript errors in
every major browser. One machine only has internet
explorer and it always gives errors, such as when trying
to open a hotmail msg (unable to). The other machine has
IE and Opera and Foxfire, and the latter two simply sit
when I click a hotmail link.
I have searched far and wide and experimented on machine
#2 (with the multiple browsers) going so far as to
uninstall SP2, unfortunately to no avail in fixing this
problem.
The computers also both have Norton Antivirus 2003,
updated to whatever is the latest version. This and SP2
are the only similarities shared between them.
It is crucial for me to be able to get javascript to work
at I do my schoolwork over an online interface that
requires it!
thanks

- Windows XP Support >> "Access is denied" for LocalService and NetworkService accounts??Hello,
Two days ago I've noticed that some of my system services aren't
starting
and returnig "Access is denied" error. Problem concerns to services
that
are logging to NetworkService and LocalService account only. My idea
was
to change logon account to LocalSystem and now everything works fine,
but
I don't want to leave it for that manner for a long time. As we all
know
LocalSystem account have all privileges and therefore is very unsafe.
Maybe you had such error in the past and can help me to solve it?? I
have
no idea how to enable locked accounts.. :(

- Windows XP >> Why won't Windows Messenger start?A little while ago, I got annoyed that WM would keep starting up when not
wanted, so I took the advice of some tech site and made some registry
changes to prevent it from opening, automatically.
The problem is now it won't open at all, even if I directly attempt to open
it. So, I uninstalled it though the Windows components option of the
Add/Remove Programs control panel and downloaded the install program from
Microsoft.
But even after re-installing, Messenger still won't open.
What can I do?

- Windows XP Hardware >> Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enterI am running Windows XP. My computer and hard drive are about 2.5
years old. Recently, I have not made any software or hardware changes.
Yesterday, after booting correctly and using it for a couple of hours,
my computer hung (this has not happened in months). Turning it off
from Start button was not possible. When I tried the manual reboot
button it gave the message
"Disk boot failure insert system disk and press enter"
I turned it off manually with the on/off switch and on again and it
was OK for a while before it hung again. After this happened for abut
five times, it worked well. I was able to reboot from the Star button
or by pushing the reboot button. I turned it off last night and on
this morning and it is fine.
I ran CHKDSK and it gave no errors.
Is this an indication that the hard drive should be replaced?

- Windows XP >> No wireless connectivity at hotspotsHi there. How do I configure the wireless settings on my computer such that
I will pick up wireless signals when I visit various hotspots? When I go to
the Wireless Network Connection dialog and refresh the network list, I get
the message that windows cannot configure this wireless connection and that
if I have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, to use
that software. Yes, I used to connect to the internet wirelessly through my
mom's desktop by virtue of a 2 Wire modem that was sent to me by SBC Yahoo.
However, I think I disabled abled it somehow when I moved and got a new
broadband internet connection. I really have absolutely no idea where to
begin here. Please could I have some pointers. Thank you.
