Windows Update headache

Windows XP Update >> Windows Update headache Hello,
Windows Update has been running for several weeks now. It will get to about
46% complete, then I will get a pop up message from Norton Internet Security
showing that â??windows updateâ?? is trying to access my bank account number (it
will show the majority of the account numbers that I identified to the NIS
program to be on the watch for). Why does Windows (or Microsoft) need that
data? It also appears that Windows update is then proceeding to restart the
update because I blocked it from getting the bank account number. It starts
fast; slows down around 30% completes then wants the bank account number at
46% which I block from being transmitted. Are there simply a bunch of
different updates that I am getting, or is Windows starting the whole
process back up?

Windows Update is not going after your bank account or anything else similar
for that matter.

Also check your NIS settings, they may be to strict.
