My C: contains all my program files as well as my

run considerably slower than 100MB. The on-board network card runs fine at

- Windows XP Hardware >> Graphic Problems-No DisplayI have a strange problem. A friend was using my computer and while messing
around, he deleted the graphic card I was using. Now, the PC and windows
seems to start fine but once windows xp kicks in, everything goes black. I
can see the HD light working so I know things are going on in there, but I
just can't see anything. I've attempted using different cards in there(all
same family, diff. models) but have the same problem. Is there a solution to
this problem or is it time for me to upgrade?

Windows XP Perform Maintain >> "Professional" doesn't display at startup
Some time after installing XP SP2 I've noticed that the word Professional
doesn't show at the Windows XP startup screen (the one with the horizontal
progress bar is displayed). I can't say for sure when it started, and I don't
know if it's significant, but I've learned to be (at least) suspicious when I
notice expected behaviour changing. It also seems that the system has become
very sluggish (especially the first time Explorer starts up), but I suspect
that's unrelated. Any ideas?

It was eliminated when you installed the SP2 upgrade. Old news.

Yes get a clue and search before posting - how do I know you haven't? Well
this is an FAQ asked - and answered - on an almost daily basis. There is
absolutely *NO* excuse not to Google before posting
(http://groups.google.com - and that's more assistance than you deserve!).

- Windows XP Setup >> Sysprep problemsHi,
We are currently trying to use Ghost 7.5 to deploy XP Pro machines. We
create an image run sysprep, then take an image dump. That works fine and
afterwards the machine goes through the setup. So we know sysprep works fine
as teh automated setup finishes without a problem. The problem occurs when
we try to image a machine that has a different hardware spec. The image
loads ok to the machine. However on restart the machine goes into a loop,
whereby you get the options to boot up, safe mode, normal etc. But no matter
which option you choose the machine reboots and goes round in this cycle.
Any ideas??
Thanks

- Windows XP Support >> How to install Windows MCE to a new PC which has only SATA hdI'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times already but my search
of the newsgroups does not come with anything recent.
I have just bought an ASUS Pundit barebones PC and a WD Caviar 250gig SATA
drive to go with it.
I am intending to install Windows XP Media Centre Edition 2005 onto it.
The Pundit has the SATA drive installed, a DVD writer but it does not have a
floppy drive and there is no connector to connect one to.
I have seen in other posts that in order to install XP to a SATA drive you
have to press F6 during the install process and install SATA drivers.
I have checked the WD website but can't find any SATA drivers, I've also
checked the Asus website with the same result. There is a driver CD with the
Pundit but I've searched that and the nearest thing I can find there
is a SATA raid controller driver ( strange because the Pundit does not have
raid capability, it can only take a single HD ! )
Can anyone offer help here ?

- Windows XP >> Help.Hello people. So I decided to use Vista so I bought Vista.. Now Vista wasn't
actually 'my' style... So I wanted XP back (I installed Vista on Partian D:\
and XP on C:\ )
I got bored from Vista so I decided to delete it. So I formatted my D:\
partian. Now I get this 'error' to choose 2 operating systems. But I only
want to use XP cause Vista is gone but I can choose it.
Now the question is. How can I go directly to XP without that 'choosing'
paging on the boot?
Any help would be great.

- Windows XP >> System Restore Question-Please Help!Every time I use the System Restore function approximately
2.2 Gb's are added to the used space on the hard drive, or
(C:). It is now up to 49 Gb's and the free space is going
down. What is causing this as the Hard Drive should only
be about 10 Gb's or less with the programs that are
installed. Is there a setting to get rid of the extra Gb's
system restore is adding to the used space without losing
information.

- Windows XP Hardware >> External drive not recognizedMy daughter has a WD external drive that has been connected via USB 2.0 to
her PC for over a year. About a week ago, the drive (F) disappeared from
her My Computer list. A couple of simple attempts such as power off and
power on the drive brought it back. I thought the "problem" was solved.
Today it happened again. I deleted the drive entry in device
manager/hardware and plugging the device in again brought it back and we
could see it again in her My Computer list. She bought a new Seagate
external drive to use it in case the WD was dieing and she was able to
install it without any problem. We didn't know it, but during the install
the new Seagate drive the WD drive disappeared again and the Seagate was
assigned the same drive letter (F). Now, the Seagate is running okay but XP
won't recognize the WD no matter what we do. If she plugs the WD into her
second computer, it comes up just fine. Can anyone point me in the right
direction so I can get both drives running on her computer? They're both
FAT32 and are connected through USB 2.0 ports. She's running an up to date
XP SP2. Thanks for your help.
