- Windows XP >> runas.exe /savecred IssueHi All,
XP Professional
I've been using runas for some desktop shortcuts. Mostly VB apps. This has
been working great for a couple weeks now except lately one user has been
getting prompted for the Administrator password when trying to launch the
mentioned VB app.
Nobody else is having the problem.
The PC's were set up at the same time and all apps were set to runas
Adminstator. I put in the passwords myself when launching the app for the
first time. Nobody else has experienced any problems except this one user.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

- Windows XP >> Error 5009 - No definition of "objWMP"I like listen to Microsoft Webcasts and seminars from the following web
pages:
http://www.microsoft.com/seminar/default.mspx
http://www.microsoft.com/seminar/events/webcasts/ondemand.mspx
Unfortunately, when I am tiring to do that I get the the following message:
Error 5009 - No definition of "objWMP"
I got this error many times. The only solution that I know is just
reinstalling the whole system.
After that everything is OK for some short period of time (maybe week or
two).
After that I am not able to listen the webcasts at all.
Does anybody know what the solution of that problem is?
I also reinstalled Windows Media Player 9.0 and nothing happened.

- Windows XP Network >> WinXP with Windows 2000 Server HangsI have just migrated from a Server 4.0 platform to Server
2000 platform. All my machines that run 98 and 2000
workstation work with no problems. However all my XPpro
machines will not work. If I was to unplug the network
cable, log in, let everything load and then plug the
network cable back in, the computer runs fine. But if do
the same thing with the network cable plugged in before I
log in, the machine locks up as soon as I try to load a
program.
Has anybody had this problem before and know what the fix
is?
Thank You.

- Windows XP Setup >> Is a floppy drive necessary for the transfer wizard? When using the files transfer wizard, I plan to create a wizard disk on CD in
the new computer so I can run it on the old one to complete the transfer and
then connect the 2 with a USB cable. The floppy drive on my old computer
doesnâ??t work. Will that matter at all, or should the wizard just transfer the
files through the cables without me having to store anything on the floppy?

- Windows XP Setup >> Application Information Popups (ie NOT internet popups)Can anyone help? (I do apologise if this has already been answered, but
trying to find this was hard, mainly giving me regular popups)
Many applications popup [Yes | No] Popups or [Cancel | Continue] etc, etc
and while a machine is not doing anything else these are fine, but when you
are busy typing often any key, or an Enter will choose the default offered.
I find this rather annoying when I am busy typing something (like this) and
you see something pop up and before your brain can read and answer it and
click the answer you've already typed something and your choice has been made
for you.
My question is, can these be sent to the background (like MSN Messenger
behaves when a new contact types something - it DOES NOT annoy you but waits
behind until you are ready).
Unfortunately (sorry, I'm an Aussie and we usually ask and answer a question
in the same breathe - "How you doing? Alright!") I guess this may be down to
the application writers ("oh we'll be smart, we'll pop it up above ANY other
application, even the current one they are using").
Has Vista looked in to this?
Thanks heaps, I will get off of my soapbox now
And yes, I'm alright.

Windows XP >> lost category view
Hi
I will try to explain the problem more clearly. When I
click the path: Start>Control Panel, I get a window with
the control options listed in list mode in the right
column and in the left which is blue I only get the "See
Also" drop down option. There used to be another drop
down above this one with "category view" as an option,
but this no longer appears.
I did not know it could be turned off. How do I retrieve
it?

I seem to have a problem connecting IPOD to PC. When I first plugged it in,
it seemed fine and transferred all transferred from itunes. I unplugged it
and listened etc, now it won't even connect to pc. I was going to try and
restore it, but my PC doesn to seem to be acknowledging it as a driver, i.e
doesn't show on "my computer". I've also tried adding new hardware, but
nothing.
Any Ideas?

- Windows XP Support >> SP2 Install errors!!!!!!!Hi Guys,
Was just wondering if anyone could give me some pointers in
determining what the problem/solution is to my issue with installing
sp2.
I had to a repair install of xp as I suffered some suspect sys file
corruption after HW upgrade. Installation went fine but only came with
SP1. Obtained SP2 and it bugs out with error message about 3/4 way
through install (when doing cleanup) If I restart without removing sp2
XP will enter a reboot loop on presentation of desktop.
Any ideas at interpreting below log files?

that i can't remove easily. The problem is that ,my LAN

Reinstallation of the network driver removes the problem

PLS suggest something about how to get rid of it.

- Windows XP Setup >> Undisclosed Change in MUI?I ask this for the following reasons.
A: We're a multi-national that routinely deploys MUI packages.
B: We've gone from W2K to XP SP1, with minor SP2 deployments.
C: We deploy English and Japanese MUI configurations.
D: We've stayed stable on the same version of Lotus for several years. 5.0.5
Here's whats happening now:
In Lotus when creating an attachment that the OS explorer window see in
Kanji, Notes now states "File cannot be found" when creating the attachment.
Renaming the File into English allowing attachment to be created. A problem
when going to a reciepient that cannot read English.
Also in Lotus now, Email Created internally in Kanji can be sent and read by
other internal clients. Email created internally in Kanji can be read by
users external to our environment. Email created in Kanji externally cannot
be read internally in Kanji. So users externally who cannot read or write in
English cannot communicate to our environment. A Very Big issue.
Attempted solutions
XP SP1 Fully patched
XP SP2 Fully patched
Office 2000
Office 2003
Local Client installs of Notes of a pure Japanese Client
Local Client installs of Notes of a pure English Client with Unicode enabled
and all fonts set to MS Gothic.
Shared Server Client with Unicode enabled and all fonts set to MS Gothic.
This issue also only appears when the regional settings of the machine for
the user are set to Japanese as the primary environment.
I sat in the Concierge chat and unfortunately, no documentation can be found.
Has there been a change? RIS installs arent available to me at the moment
due to Broadcom NIC issues, SATA Driver issues etc on our images.

- Windows XP Security >> Auto Defrag ScriptI am looking for a way to incorporate an auto defrag into the shutdown/logoff

defrag c: -f
(forces defrag of C:\)
My problem is that when I reboot or logoff, it takes forever. Now this is
not a problem at the end of the day, but during the day I can't have it.
Is there a way to have the cmd window appear when the script runs so that I
can just close it out if I don't want it to run?
