Is this a critical update only if you use .Net ?
AFAIK I don`t.
If it is a "must" for all to update there appears to be problems with the
update!
And finally......what is it anway?

- Windows XP Setup >> using partitionsHad to have a m/b upgarde and when I got the pc back from the repair the hard
drive had been partitioned into C: & D: ___ Everything (XP and all files for
3 users) is on C: with D: completely empty.
Can I just move all the "Files Stored on This Computer" over to D: and when
I click on "My Documents" on the Start Menu will the files show up or is it
more complicated than that ?

- Windows XP Support >> Mousepointer makes icon in taskbar disappearAll of a sudden when I want to open a program by rightclicking the
respective icon in the taskbar the icon dispappears as soon as the
mouse pointer hits the icon. The icon is for my Kerio firewall.
Has anyone a clue what the problem could be
A second problem which bothers me refers to the taskbar itself. On my
win xp home I do not know how to line all the icons (9) back onto one
single line. While trying to solve above issue I must have changed
something and the icons now show in a block on 3 lines

purchased at Best Buy, and there Tech rep siad the
computer system was insufficient BUT are not authorized to
issue a refund since it was opened . The activation code
can be checked.....it's not been activiated. How do I get

- Windows XP Network >> Direct Cable ConnectionI am trying to copy a custom written program from my laptop
to my new desktop. The laptop is running Windows98, & the
desktop XP. I have established a connection thru a Belkin
DB25 File transfer cable, but after establishing the link I
can't see anything in the "host" computer from the "guest"
computer. Does anyone know how to make this work?

- Windows XP Update >> UpdatesA short while ago, SP2 autoupdate on my wife's computer downloaded Media
Player 10 and asked if she wanted to install it.
The same day, SP2 auto-update on my computer downloaded Media Player 9
(which I already had) and asked me if I wanted to install it.
There seems to be no way either autoupdate, Windows Update or Media
player's own update search can be persuaded to find Media Player 10. I
know I can download it, but that seems to defeat the object of the
update procedures.
Any ideas?

- Windows XP >> Reboot loop - can't see error messageI've been working on this for hours and hours now:
XP is stuck in a reboot loop. Can't make it to login screen. Just Welcome
screen and start over. There is a brief glimpse of blue before it reboots
and although it could be the login screen, I'm pretty sure it's an error
message screen.
Can't do Safe Mode or Last Known. chdsk hasn't helped much.
I'm in the Recovery Console off the XP CD, but I'm not sure what I should be
trying to fix. Is there any way to find out what that error says? I've also
tried in the bootlog and it's not there.

- Windows XP Hardware >> XP Pro Boot up procedure cyclesI have just fitted a new MSI K8N Neo motherboard, Athlon
64 Processor and 512K DDR RAM.I'm running Win XP Pro. On
switch on it begins to boot up then just before opening
the desktop window I get the message 'Not enough Virtual
memory or paging file quota to run the specified
operation'. The system then restarts. This then
continually cycles until I switch off. I can't get into
Safe Mode because the system then freezes, I can't even
acess POST even though quick boot is disabled in the
BIOS. I've tried booting from CD-ROM (Win XP Pro) but the
same error message and restart cylce occurs.
Any ideas, anyone?

- Windows XP >> Longdistance Fax problemsHello,
I need to figure out how to send faxes long distance using a 2 digit long
distance access code. I have an internal fax modem and can make local faxes
fine. I have to dial a 9 for an outside line then the 1 XXX - XXXX, but to
dial long distance calls, i have to enter a two digit pin after i dial the
number. I am trying to figure out how to set this up. I have tried just
adding ,XX after the number for the pin but that didn't work. Any ideas?

- Windows XP >> No picture from DVD in Media Player 11Ever since I downloaded Media Player 11 I have not been able to watch
DVD's. I thought it was the DirectX so I updated that. I have
installed a new decoder, updated drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled
drivers, programs and everything else I can think of to no avail. If
I try to play a newer DVD like "Troy" I get no picture and no sound
but the timer is counting up like it is playing the video.
What can I do next?

- Windows XP Support >> Big Problem - cant access usb disksOK my computer is fine and it is virus free (checked and deleted
viruses using AVG and spybot - search and destroy). However whenever I
insert any kind of USB memory (1gb usb flash disk, 256mb usb flash disc
and 30gb ipod video) drive it stops and freezes leaving the user unable
to move the mouse or it crashes the pc completly. So I can't get any of
my work off my usb drives or update my ipod. This is particually bad as
a lot of my GCSE graphics coursework is on my 1gb usb drive. Please

Reset the router to factory default settings by holding down the Reset
button for at least 3 seconds.

- Windows XP Hardware >> printing on a remote driver on a remote computer?hello, I am in a mixup. Normaly when you print on a remote computer that is
attached to your computer you need to install the driver on your own
computer too.
For instance I have a windows xp computer copnnected via usb to my 1220 c
inkjet printer. Normally I would install a win98 driver on the w98 machines
so I
can print via that driver on the winxp machine. But I need a way to send the
print job to a driver that is installed only on the win XP machine!.
Why? Because the version of the driver for the win98 machines have a bug,
but the driver on the win XP machine workes perfectly!
I have heard about PRINTER SERVER.... how do these work? And HP says
something about print via the interent to a remote printer, anyone know
that?

- Windows XP >> Changing Printing Fonts in Outlook Express 6 on XP HomeWhen I print either incoming and outgoing emails from
Outlook Express with XP Home edition the font size of the
message body is very large 16 or 18. I am not sure how
long this has been happening but I just started using the
PC and can not find any way to reduce the Font size for
printing. The header size is a smaller size but the msg
body is quite large.

problems,but now i have Windows XP.

I am in the process of collating information to present to my office with
regards to bringing some of my colleagues up to scratch with using Windows XP.
Does anyone know of any useful sites that i can download training content to
facilitate this?
I am looking for something that i can can print for my colleagues and then
run through with them in a tutorial covering the really basic stuff, like
files and folders, working with apps, explaining a desktop etc...
Any help or suggestions will be gratefully accepted..
