Dual Core Processor

Any advice would be highly appreciated particularly about dual core

- Windows XP Network >> VoIP Mac AddressesI recently purchased a Linksys PAP2 phone adapter but cannot get it to work
through my Linksys WRT54GS router. I ensured a good ISP interface with both
of my wireless PCs (encrypted) also using the router.
When I activated the service I don't recall entering the MAC address but the
voice response menu verifies the correct address if I enter the code but that
may be just info stored within the phone adapter unit itself and not coming
from the Vonage site.
Has anyone had any experience with this? I also tried entering the port
ranges on the Linksys site but still no joy. So far, Vonage has not been
much help but I can tell I'll need to spend more time working this issue with
them.
As a side note, my Linksys 802.11 a+g network adapters came up first go
around and continues to operate like a champ!!

customize >> Keyboard clashing with sound!
I'm having problems with the sound on my system. I have the following -
Windows XP Home Edition
3.02 gig Intel Pentium 4
1024 Megabytes Installed Memory
120 Gigabytes Hard Drive
NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X
The problem is while any audio is playing, from any program, any of the keys
that are pressed on the keyboard interfere with the sound causing it to
break up, and if I'm playing a game then game play is effected as well. The
game will pause or run very slow while any key is pressed on the keyboard.
Everything runs fine as long as I'm not using the keyboard. I've tried using
different keyboards with no luck. Could someone please advise me on how to
fix this problem.

customize >> Keyboard clashing with sound!
Does this problem happen with all programs, or only one game?
If it is only in the one game or program, you should contact the authors or
distributors of the game or program.
This sounds like (no pun intended), like there is a problem with the IRQ
sharing when this program is run on your system.
If you have the skills, take a look at the IRQ layout for the sound card,
and keyboard. But, it is possible that the game is also causing very long
time values for its operation in some of the shared IRQ's during its
operation. This type of thing can get fairly complex. There can also be many
factors about a particular machine, of how it is working with particular
software's. It has to do with the system installation layout with the IRQ's
and how memory and caching is managed.
I have some computers here that have 2 printer ports. On one of them, the
sound card has a shared IRQ with the LPT2 port. When I am doing a print job
on LPT2, the sound will start to break up, and at the same time, the printer
can sometimes slow down, if its buffers are full and there is sound at the
same time.
Sometimes, depending on may factors, you can force an IRQ change by deleting
a card, and then removing a card. Then restart the computer to have the card
deleted. Then you can install the card in a different socket, and re-install
its drivers back. When the computer starts up after the re-installation, it
may assign a different IRQ position for that function. But, if the
particular card has to work under a particular IRQ, then this type of remedy
will not work.
Unfortunately the keyboard IRQ would be very difficult to change. But, the
sound card IRQ may change by following the advice given here. If it does not
work, you can put things back if necessary.

Michael,
Seeing that someone already posted some advice here, I just wanted to let
you know that this group is dedicated to windows XP Embedded. you might try
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general in the future, and have more responses. I
see that you kind of peppered several newsgroups with this post, just
identifying what one of them is microsoft.public.windowsxp.embedded is for
XPE...
Best Regards,
JC

It happens with all programs. If I play a song on the Media player and try
to type this email for example I get the same problem.

lol none taken :)

No the sound (sound is OB anyway) and the keyboard don't share the same IRQ.
But...my network adapter and sound (which are both OB) are sharing the same
IRQ. Would that make sence? Could the network adapter clash with the sound,
as I am on a home network and using an ADSL modem, which is always
connected.

I think your right about the two devices using the same IRQ, but as their
both OB how do I go about changing one of the IRQ positions?

- Windows XP Hardware >> Serious burning issuesI am having a big problem and I desperately need your

have 2 computers in my house. I thought it might have
just been the burner of the first computer when it didnt
work, but now I have moved to my second PC, and nothing
will burn on it either. So I have tried 2 computers, 3
different burners, 3 different cd burning softwares,
(nero, easy cd creator 5.3.5 platinum, and nti), tried
different files and different burning speeds, even the
lowest speed on all drives. I even tried 3 different
kind of cd media in case that was the problem. This
started all a sudden, please I have no idea what the heck
it could be. I have XP Pro on both machines, and they
are not networked in any way. Also, I've tried Music and
Data, and nothing works. One of my systems is P4 2.4,
768 Ram, 40Gb hard drive, so I dont think that's the
problem. Thank you very much in advance for any advice.
