Windows XP >> Need updated udfs.sys I am currently experiencing problems with UDF discs as described in kb899527,
except that it's with CD-RWs rather than DVD-RWs. The kb says that there is a
hotfix available, but you have to contact Microsoft Product Support Services
to get it. When I try to contact Microsoft Product Support Services though, I
get a screen saying "Products purchased under a Select License Agreement or
Software Assurance Home Use Program are not eligible for no-charge support."

kb899527 states "In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for
support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines
that a specific update will resolve your problem." So I don't think I'd have
to pay for the hotfix in the end, but I don't want to have to pay for it up
front in any case. Is there any way for me to just download this hotfix
without going through Microsoft Product Support Services?

Thanks,

No the only way is to contact Product Support as the article states.
There will be no charge for the hotfix if that's all you mention.
