Windows XP Network >> long time to logon and failed to map network drives Hi,
I am sure whether it happenes to you or not. Sometimes it
takes so long to logon the computer to the domain like 8
minutes or something..and it failed to map those network
drives. I have no choice but to restart the computer once
again. Sometimes the problem is solved after restarting
the computer but it is getting frustrated to do it every
day as a routine. Plus sometimes all the icons and stuff
are gone after logging in.. and I also have to restart
the computer again to make the icons coming back. What
seems to be the problem? I am not logging on at a busy
time either. It would be nice if someone knows how to fix
this. Thanks

Billy

Windows XP Network >> long time to logon and failed to map network drives Sounds like your DNS settings are incorrect. The XP client should be
configured to look only at the DNS server on your domain, the domain server
should be set up to resolve all DNS outside the domain.

Windows XP Network >> long time to logon and failed to map network drives The computer is configurated to look for ip and stuff
from the DHCP server. We have about 20 computers in the
domain and it looks like only this computer is having
this problem. The rest of the computers are just missing
all the icons during the startup once in a while.
