Windows XP Perform Maintain >> CPU Fan Failure in Win XP At boot up, system displays "CPU Fan Failure Service
Immediately" and then shuts down. I can press F2 and
then the system boots okay. Why is this happening? The
fan seems to be working just fine, I opened the box up to
look for the CPU Fan, no fan, just a big heatsink with a
funnel from the system fan down to it.

Windows XP99

Windows XP Perform Maintain >> CPU Fan Failure in Win XP Paul, I found this info at the HP support site:

HP Desktop PCs - Resolving CPU Fan Failed Error Message

Error: F2 to continue to boot. Otherwise, the system will
power down in five seconds.

NOTE: Verify system fan configuration prior to making
changes in the BIOS by removing the side panel from the
computer and inspect for the presence system fans.

Resolve the CPU Fan Failed error message as follows:

Turn on the computer.

SiSoft Sandra, FREE, you can check on the temperature of your CPU
and motherboard. The manufacturer can tell you what the correct
temperature should be. :-)
