Windows XP >> Boot Disk I need to go to DOS (not the DOS in Windows) to update my
BIOS and Award Flash Utilities. For this I need a floppy
start-up boot disk from WIN XP Home. How do I make a
WINxp start-up disk? Do I need to insert the CD for WIN
XP?

Windows XP >> Boot Disk From My Computer, right-click on the floppy drive, select Format and
check the box for "Create an MS-DOS startup disk." Then copy your
BIOS files and flash utilities to the disk.

Good Luck...

Windows XP >> Boot Disk Insert a floppy in the drive.

Right-click on it. Select "format".

Check the "create MS-DOS startup disk" box.

Click "start".

(The format /s a: command, available in Win9X, isn't supported in XP.)

I have read claims that this isn't a "real" DOS boot floppy, but I've used
such floppies to run the BIOS flash utilities (Award and AMI) with no
difficulty.

Address altered to avoid spam. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

No you don't. You need any DOS boot disk at all. Windows isn't
involved.

But if you don't already have a DOS boot disk, in My Computer
RightClick your diskette drive and choose Format. Choose the
option for an MS-DOS startup disk.

You need a clean disk with no drivers loading:
