- Windows XP Support >> IE6 and Activation Don't workI have had serious issues lately with a machine where IE6 came to an almost
stop onan XP Home based machine. (huge delays between screens) I tried to
reinstall Service Pack 2, but could not do this successfully. I ended up
upgrading the machine to Windows XP professional. The problem did not go
away, however now I need to activate Windows professional and clicking on the
activte icons get a momentary hourglass and then the system just returns to
an idle screen (although the Activate process is taking about 30% of the CPU
performance). I installed Firefox to communicate and that works great.
The clock is now ticking, Microsoft does not acknowledge the new install and
says "call the manufacturer", I can't activate. I need to fix this issue.
Is there a configuration somewhere that could have done this? I have
scanned for spyware and viruses. Did I corrupt a DLL or some other file?

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> OT - AV CaptureI have my digital satellite TV feed hooked up via coaxial cable (from it's
RF output) to a TV capture card, and this works fine, into PC.
But hooked up too, on the other side of the room, is a SCARTed & RF'ed
VCR/DVD player combo - which plays to the TV fine - but I am not sure how to
feed it all to the PC.
What would be the best way to hook them all up so I can use the feed from
the Sat Decoder, VCR or DVD over RF cable? Or other ?
At present the centre of the RF feed to PC is from Sat Decoder - but can't
find a way to change this to include the VCR/DVD combo - which just feeds
the TV.
Do I need to centre on the TV? If so I don't think it has any output I could
RF to TV capture...
Help ;-)

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> INTERMITTANT COMPUTER SLOW DOWNLAST FRIDAY 07-14-06 MY COMPUTER/WINDOWS XP PRO SLOWED DOWN TO WHERE IT WOULD
NOT LET THE MOUSE MOVE AT TIMES. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR 4 HOURS THEN GOT
BETTER THEN WENT BAD AGAIN. I HAD A COMPUTER TECH COME OVER THAT EVENING,
WHEN HE GOT THERE THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AND HE COULD NOT DIAGNOSE IT. HE IS
SUGGESTING WE REFORMAT THE COMPUTER AND RELOAD XP. I HATE TO DO THAT BECAUSE
I THINK IT IS FIXABLE.
THIS MORNING ONE WEEK LATER I EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I OPENED
WINDOWS TASK MANAGER AND THE PERFORMANCE SCREEN, THE GRAPH SHOWED CPU USAGE
AT 100% AND THE HISTORY ALSO SHOWED A SPIKE UP TO 100%. IT BOUNCED ALONG
THAT TOP RANGE FOR A WHILE AND THEN WENT DOWN. TWO OTHER COMPUTERS IN THE
OFFICE ARE NOT ACTING LIKE THAT.
WHAT CAN BE DONE TO FIX THIS?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.

- Windows XP Network >> Hidden from networkI've been running a home network for some time now using
a Linksys router with 4 computers, a wireless access
point and other stuff. I recently upgraded my Win2K
machine to XP pro, and everything worked OK for a while.
Suddenly, without warning or error, my machine cannot see
the other machines on the network and the other machines
cannot see me (all machines are either Win98 or XP Pro.)
I can successfully capture an IP address from the router
and the router shows me on the DHCP table. I can ping to
addresses on the Internet, but not one of the LAN
machines responds to a ping, nor can the other machines
ping me.
Yet, my connection to the Internet is unaffected.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

- Windows XP >> Keyboard languagesHi!
Annoying problem coming up:
English version of XP with locale set to US but the=20
keyboard is Finnish -> Several programs translate the key=20
names into Finnish. Why? How to correct this without=20
changing the keyboard since the layout really is (and=20
needs to be in my case) Finnish? Some badly coded=20
programs (like game keyboard configurations) even have=20
predefined area where to fit the keyname and if=20
translation is longer than the english version then=20
sometimes nothing is displayed since it doesn't fit into=20
the field...
I.e. When some program is supposed to be displaying=20
something like "Press space to continue" it instead=20
shows "Press v=E4lily=F6nti [=3D=3Dspace in Finnish] to=20
continue". If the language is English shouldn't the keys=20
like space, enter, backspace etc. be also in English?
Lots of large European companies use English versions of=20
Windows but have localized keyboards (even for foreigners=20
working in that company who might not understand the=20
local language) and I should think that someone has=20
encountered this before!

- Windows XP Hardware >> Bluetooth, XP SP2 and iPaqHello,
XP SP2 (installed from a slipstreamed CD) on a Dell D400
with the builtin Truemobile BT adapter. Driver looks good
but...
I create a serial port and I make the
laptop 'Discoverable' and try to connect from the iPaq -
and when I discover available services all I see is
one 'P' (with an icon with a question mark).. Anyone have
any ideas?
Also - anyone know of any plans for integrated (or third
party) audio gateway, headset and/or lan access (as
opposed to PAN) drivers for the SP2 bluetooth stack?
Many thanks,
Michael.

Windows XP Update >> Install Windows2003 on HP Integrity Rx8620 (Itanium)
Hello!
Is it possible to install Windows 2003 Enterprise on the server Rx8620?
This machine is a server HP, 2CPU 64bts, 16GbRam, 730GbHDD.
But there isn't any possibility to connect a monitor, only a terminal...
(obviously actually it run the OS : HP-UX 11.23).
Can anyone tell me if it's possible?
And if yes, the procedure to do it : trought EFI boot menu i guess...
Thanks

Windows XP Update >> Install Windows2003 on HP Integrity Rx8620 (Itanium)
"Jérôme",
I was curious as to why you might ask this question, so I double-checked by
looking at the Hewlett-Packard website. The HP Integrity rx8620-32 Server
is based on the Itanium 2 processor.
lance) This is the standard for Hewlett-Packard these days, and Microsoft
Windows Server 2003 was shipped with 64-bit compatibility with that
processor.
As to your point on procedure, I notice that this particular server has "up
to 32 hot-plug PCI-X slots!" Why can you not have a monitor on this system?
Why can you not have a keyboard? The keyboard and mouse are USB 2.0 and HP
would probably provide this.
Having said that, yes, the EFI boot menu would allow you to stop at the
CD-Rom drive, and execute. With a proper Windows Server 2003, Enterprise
Edition (64-bit edition) CD in the drive, it should install normally. I
would imagine the HP would be happy to help you install Windows on this box.
Thank you, by the way, for your desire to install Windows Server 2003
Enterprise on your HP Integrity Server!
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]

The installation is done...
There is a possibility to connect keyboard/Monitor and mouse, but thought a

I installed W2K3 trought lan - MP, and when i try to set the ip address i've

and from CMD :
"

- Windows XP >> Windows XP InstallationCurrently I have a Korean Windows XP Professional in my pc. Since some
applications look ugly under my non-english XP, I'd like to change it to
English Version of Windows XP. Because I understand Korean xp is not
qualified for upgrade to english xp, I am going to upgrade from my old
English version of Windows 98 SE.
As far as I know, during the installation of XP, upgrade versionof XP seeks
qualified products to proceed installation. To do this, do I have to delete
all korean version of windows xp, such as windows directory? I am just
wondering if english windows xp upgrade terminates installation procedure
once it finds korean version of windows xp since it is not qualified or if
it still prompts message like "Insert qualified product cd" so that I can
insert my windows 98 se for validation.
What I want to do is English Windows XP upgrade installation from Windows 98
SE without repartitioning or formating and keep current file system. So, if
english xp upgrade cd finds korean xp professional during installation and
terminates installation, I think I have to delete some files or folders of
windows xp to make english windows xp unable to detect my korean windows xp
professional. In this case, what folder or file should I delete?
Thank you very much.

- Windows XP >> XP forces local save before network saveI have a PC that has been upgraded to XP Pro from Windows 98. There is
another (Windows 98) PC that is being used to store files.
Whenever we try to save files (usually from within Word) to the network
share on the other PC an error pops up about access being denied or
something similar. However if we save the file to the local C drive first
and then save to the network share there is never a problem. Bizarre !
Does anyone have any ideas?
