Windows XP Support >> Cannot enable screensaver - XP Hi

Do the screensavers work by right clicking on them and then selecting
'Test'?

Try a System Restore back to a point before the problem started.

Edit the registry at the following locations, if applicable.

[HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: ScreenSaveActive
Data type: REG_SZ
Delete "ScreenSaveActive".

[HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: ScreenSaveActive
Data type: REG_SZ
Delete "ScreenSaveActive".

[HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: SCRNSAVE.EXE
Data type: REG_SZ
Delete "SCRNSAVE.EXE".

[HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Desktop]
Value Name: SCRNSAVE.EXE
Data type: REG_SZ
Delete "SCRNSAVE.EXE".

If you are unsure about editing the registry then please download the file
to desktop and *merge* (right click "ScrnSvr_Unrstrct.reg" and select Merge)
the following registration file.

Visit here...
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Read the instructions at the top.
Scroll down to...
232. Lift Screen Saver Restrictions - Admin

screensaverestrictions.reg is the file that you want.

[[To use the Regedits: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. ]]

ScreenSaveActive
[[Enables desktop screen savers. If you disable this setting, screen savers
do not run. Also, this setting disables the Screen Saver section of the
Screen Saver tab in Display in Control Panel. As a result, users cannot
change the screen saver options. ]]
