Windows XP Hardware >> hp printer no longer supported i installed a hp 1010 laser printer a couple of weeks ago
and it has worked beautifully until tonight when the
microsoft xp tells me the printer is no longer supported
and cannot use it. I have tried removing and reinstalling
several times but it is not recognised by my system - any
clues please for what is happening and why?
Getting 'serious error' messages and the last one said
Generic IEEE 1284.4 printing support file not found -
getting very cheesed off.

Windows XP Hardware >> hp printer no longer supported If you recently did a windows update try rolling it back. Also could it be your cable? Maybe that went bad. Unplug the printer cable and plug it back in. May be it got wacked? Remove the device with the hardware wizard, restart, reinstall.

Also go into device manager and mess around with your Parallel port . The IEEE 1284.4 error is a Parallel port or driver error. May be an update wacked the settings on the port or something. Try rolling back the driver on that port....?
