- Windows XP Network >> VPN connection and web browsingHi
I have a work VPN connection which i need to have connected most of the
time. When it is connected i have trouble browsing the web because all
the requests go over the VPN connection. I also lose my MSN messenger
connection, I was wondering if there was a way to set it up so that all
requests bound for servers not on the works network are routed straight
out over the internet. I run Windows XP pro and have a linksys
broadband router, my company IP scheme is 194.62.153/154.* and my home
network scheme is the arbitary 192.168.1.*
Any help would be a ppreciated even a sugestion of a windows technology
to investigate.
thanks in advance

- Windows XP >> "Internal Memory Reference Error" When Closing Iexplorer in XP ProA very strange condition started occuring about 1 week ago. I haven't tried a
restore to early date yet.
Whenever I close Internet Explorer, I get the following error: "Internal
Memory Reference Error" and it also gives the reference point. This error
does not occur with any application, it stills runs just as fast and
applications run flawlessly. I tested my memory and it did not provide any
clues as it tested fine.
My big fear is that the memory controller on my motherboard is going bad,
but it is pretty much brand new. Asus K8VSE Deluxe with 2GB's (2 x PC3200,
400 DDR RAM).
Any Suggestions or Help? Could this be a virus?

- Windows XP Security >> Windows Firewall UPnP exception bug?I have a strange problem with Windows Firewall (I think). I set my Xbox 360
to connect to my Windows XP SP2 PC running Windows Media Connect 2.0 and all
works fine... except when I turn my Xbox 360 off and then on again, it can't
see my PC unless I uncheck the UPnP exception in Windows Firewall, save that
setting, then check it again and save. Suddenly, my PC is visible to the
Xbox 360 - the second I hit the OK button after re-enabling the UPnP
exception.
What's going on?

If you mean the background of Icon labels/text on desktop is not
transparent then :
1.Remove all Active desktop items :
... Right click Desktop
... Properties
... Desktop tab
... Customize desktop button
... Web tab
... Uncheck all items and click OK
2. Uncheck Lock icons
... Right click Desktop
... Point to Arrange icons by
... Uncheck "Lock web items"
3. Use Drop shadows for icons
... Click Start
... Click Run
... Type sysdm.cpl ,3
... Click Enter
... Click the first "Settings" button
... Scroll down and tick "Use drop shadows for icon labels...."
Good Luck, Ayush.

- Windows XP Setup >> Server connection conflicts ???This relates to a new installation of Windows Xp Home.
Adsl installed and using IE and Outlook Express.
Problem: When the internet is accessed by clicking on the ISP's icon, it
fires up and connects no problem. However, when trying to send mail from
Outlook Express it comes up with an error stating server issue. Same happens
with IE. All account info is correct.
However if the internet is fired up by clicking on Outlook Express and then
the logon screen, everything works fine.
Clearly there is some setting that is causing this. Can anyone help?

- Windows XP Support >> Bad,bad, bad: NO Sync software can handle RENAMED and MOVED files !I was searching for a really good sync software which is able to recognize
renamed and moved files. But much to my surprise all of the tools I have investigated so far
are very dumb. The maximum they detect is if a file exists on the other side or not.
Is calculation a (CRC32) hash of files really so difficult?
That way a rename or a move of a file can be detected without problems.
I have tried out so far:
SyncBack(SE)
InSync
SmartSync
Allway Sync
All these programs view renamed files as two independent programs and suggest them (in the preview mode)
them to copy to the opposite side. As a result I got TWO files.
Maybe some guy here knows another tools which is able to detect RENAMES and MOVES.
