Windows XP Support >> Partition or not My F Drive is an external HD. Prior to my recent crash I'd stored My
Mp3Music,
My Familyphotos etc on there, together with my WinXP NTbackup.

I couldnt get my backup to restore and fouled up.
The nice techie who got me up and running again recommended I buy
Norton Ghost 9
for my future monthly incremental backups, so I did.

I'm now ready to do the first backup (or copy).
Should I have a Partition on my External Drive to segregate the Backup
from my routine store of music and photos as I start to build a new
collection.

If I do oneclick backup of everything this first time I'm unsure
whether next month when I do an incremental backup do I include this
months first backup or just everything else. The pdf userguide is too
technical for me to get to grips with.
Thanks for any help
Mike

Windows XP Support >> Partition or not I dont use Ghost..I use True Image but I am assuming they are pretty close.
The object is to create an "image" of your HD onto another HD.
This Imaged HD would then replace the damaged original drive and you would
be up and running in minutes.

The other way is to create an Image file on the External HD in a seperate
partition than your saved files. This image file can be overwritten by
picking a new image not incremental with the same name.Incremental adds
files to the partition and you will eventually run out of room.
True Image inserts a command in the start up sequence that lets you access
it without XP being loaded...does Ghost do that ?? or at least a start up
floppy....so that when that original HD goes down or XP wont start..you can
access that image files and restore.
