IE Open in New Window doesn't work.

Windows XP >> IE Open in New Window doesn't work. Hi,

My 2nd PC has WINXP SP1A and IE6 SP1 installed.
It works great except if I attempt to Right Click on a URL to open in a new
window - nothing happens, I just get a partialy drawn blank window. The same
happens when a webpage tries to open a new window. I don't have a Pop Up
Blocker or anything.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I've searched the Knowledge base but can't
find a fix.

1. Click [Start] [Run] type:
(Press Enter after each command)
Regsvr32 /i URLMON.DLL
Regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
Regsvr32 shdocvw.dll

2. Restart Windows
3. Open IE [Tools] [nternet Options] [Programs] [Reset Web Settings]

Hi,
I tried those methods before and they didn't work.
However I have just fixed the problem through determination.

I re-installed IE6 SP1A which cured the problem however it wasn't straight
forward because IE wouldn't reinstall and without some coaxing. For the
benefit of others who may have this problem this is what I did.

STEP 1

Download the ie6setup file from microsoft site to some where like
C:\Downloads\ then go to Start - Run and paste in the following exactly
"C:\Downloads\ie6setup.exe" /c:"ie6wzd.exe /d /s:""#E"

It'll ask you what operating system version and where you want to save
all the files. Create a folder such as "C:\Downloads\IE6 SP1 Full" and save
the files into it.

STEP 2

You have to edit the registry so that you can install IE fully.

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

When you try to reinstall the same version of Internet Explorer, you may
receive the following error message:

Setup has detected a newer version of Internet Explorer already installed on
this system.
Setup cannot continue.
To avoid this error message and reinstall the same version of Internet
Explorer and Outlook Express, follow these steps:
While you are logged on as an administrator, click Start, and then click
Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate the appropriate registry subkey, right-click the IsInstalled
(REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.

To reinstall only the Internet Explorer 6 browser component on Windows XP,
use the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed
Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}
Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.

STEP 3

Install Internet Explorer 6 from the location you saved the files to.

To reinstall Windows XP updates, visit the following Microsoft Windows
Update Web site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

After rebooting, the problem was fixed completely.
