- Windows XP Hardware >> How to get all the page RHS when you print from IE explorerI am usind Windows XP PRO and Internet Explorer V6.00 with all the
latest patches. I have allways had the following print problem that I
have fudged a solution to, by saving the page or pages, and then using
Word to format and edit them but this such a waste of time. I am
printing to A4 which is the standard default in Australia.
I have a HP laser printer (laserjet 5M) and I want to know how to get
all the info on the screen printed in full as I find the right hand
side of the printed page has the text truncated and parts missing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

- Windows XP Network >> Bad network Utilisation. My Local Area Network works but how do I utilise the
10/100mbps network running in my house. At the moment I
am getting about 250kbps which is not enough for my
needs. I am using good quality cables and the network
cards are installed correctly. I do use a switch instead
of a hub but the network is still too slow. I want to
know if there is any thing that I have to enable to make
it run faster(like a protocal or somthing that I have to
enable/disable).
I am using Windows XP SP1 and my machines are two 2.4s.

- Windows XP Support >> IE6 forward button no longer worksAfter installing SP2 last week everything works fine except now the
"forward" button on the Internet Explorer (6) toolbar no longer functions.
The "back" button works fine however the "forward" button becomes greyed out
after the "back" internet page is loaded. Is this part of the SP2 security
settings? Is there a cure?

- Windows XP >> Uncompressing "old files"?Unfortunately, I forgot to uncheck the "compress old files" option in
Disk Cleanup, when I wanted to throw out temporary files and such. Is
there a way to reverse this? In other words, a way to uncompress all
these files (that now show blue in the file explorer)? I don't need the
extra space, but I'd rather not take a performance blow.
Thanks!

- Windows XP >> Wireless problems in XP.Hi,
I am using a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop with XP. For some reason,
when I checked my Network connections (in Control Panel), the wireless
network option has disappeared.
I then checked Device Manager and it is listed as Intel Pro Wireless
2200 BG but there is a problem: This device cannot start. (Code 10).
I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers both from Windows and
from the Intel website and re-booted to no avail.
This is what I downloaded from Intel:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/download.aspx?url=3D/15014/eng/10.5.3.0...
I have no idea what to do. I used the Troubleshooting tag in Device
Manager but that doesn=92t help.
One suggestion was to disable wireless in the BIOS then uninstall the
drivers in Control Panel, then re-enable the BIOS and install the
drivers in Control Panel; however BIOS does not give me this option.
If I uinstall the drivers then reboot, XP automatically installs the
wireless drivers again, but you get the "exclaimation mark" indicator
in Devices that there is a problem.
Any ideas? Thanks =96 your help is much appreciated.

- Windows XP Network >> problem to connect certain websitesSorry this is the resending of my question because I had omitted something
important.
I am having troubles recently connecting certein websites. I am using
high-speed online and my network connection is totally ok. I was able to
connect to most websites before. The two sites that I can't access just
recently are "www.fda.gov" and "www.hsbc.com". I tried pinging the two web
addresses and it shows "destination host unreachable" or "request timed out"
and I had 100% loss of the 4 packets. I was told by someone that maybe some
programs running when I turn on the computer that prevents me from accessing
the sites but I didn't see any strange programs or maybe I didn't know the
way to find out.
I am not good at computer troubleshooting at all. Is anyone who can suggest
me any way to solve this problem? I already checked the help manual and
followed the directions but it didn't seem to clear the problem out.
Thanks so much!

- Windows XP Support >> Trouble Reinstalling Windows XPI have a Gateway Desktop with 512 of ram and 2ghz processor. I used the
Gateway discs to format the drive and begin to install xp. While
copying files to the hard drive I get an error message that certain
files can't be copied and it gives me the option to find them myself. I
can press escape to proceed without the files but when xp installs it
gets hung up. I also tried using a spare copy of XP pro and I get the
same problem...just different files. I also used a different cd rom,
thinking it may have been bad. I'm stuck!!Any guidance would be
appreciated. Thanks

- Windows XP >> SP2 Update helpI'm looking to reinstall windows as it needs to be repaired. My
reinstallation CD doesn't include SP2. Is there a way I can install SP2,
perhaps from an .exe file, without downloading it from windows update, as I'd
prefer to install SP2 before setting up my network?

- Windows XP >> CD SpaceA 700 MB CD has a MS-Word file whose size is just 27 KB but WinXP says
the total size of the CD is only 283 MB (out of which 282 MB is free)!
How is Windows computing the total size of the CD to 283 MB when the
actual total size of the CD is 700 MB? Why isn't Windows accounting for
the remaining 417 MB?

- Windows XP Support >> lost desktop icons!Hi all,
I very recently did the latest update to Sunbelt's Counterspy software on my
desktop running XP. Upon next reboot an ambiguous message came up from
either Counterspy or Norton saying "a program is attempting to change
windows shell. Do you wish to allow or block?" Being conservative I said
block and the result is no desktop icons - just an open instance of Windows
Explorer. How can I restore my desktop?
Walt
PS - My latest machine - a new Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop has been running
flawlessly with just Norton Pro Security. I'm so glad I bought this
particular laptop and also that I did not put Counterspy on it. The programs
seem to conflict.

- Windows XP Setup >> System ShutdownI just upgraded from Me to XP. The install appeared to go
smoothly until I logged in. A window immediately pops up
to indicate that the system is attempting to install
Office XP Pro, then another window indicates that it can't
find the necessary files and I'm asked to indicate their
location, and finally, a third window appears that
indicates an error occurred and my system will
automatically shut down and restart in 60 seconds. Has
anyone else seen this?
I tried to repair the problem from the install disk but
that had no effect. I figured that I would try a new
installation next, if there is no alternative. TIA

- Windows XP Support >> Can't uninstall Norton Systemworks (2006)Hi,
I've looked at numerous posts about problems with uninstalling norton
products but none are quite what I'm looking for. I had norton
systemworks 2006 premier installed on my laptop but I found that it was
sucking up way too much system resources so tried to uninstall it. I
went into add/remove programs and tried to remove it from there and
everything was going well until it restarted.
Upon boot, Goback performed it's little uninstall but now I can't get
beyond the GoBack splash screen. It says to press the space bar to see
more options but when I do, the splash screen starts over. It's a
neverending cycle that I can't get out of so I can't even start windows
in start mode. The only thing I can do is boot from cd. Is there any
way I can remove the GoBack splash screen? I've read somewhere that I
can edit the MBR but no one really says how.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
