Windows XP >> ACCESS DENIED \\*computer name here* is not accessible. You may... I have 4 computers on my network. All of them are desktop computers. They are
connected through a linksys router and have worked fine for quite a while.
One day, one of the computers just dissapeared from the network. It was then
labled *network path not found* even though the workgroup view still sees the
computer.
This is not the problem that I am asking about however.

Later, after I had to redo another one of our computers, the network
automatically found all the computers in the workgroup view. It could only
connect though to 1 of the computers. The most stable out of the computers,
not redone at all, was working fine and all the 3 computers could
communitcate (except for the prob discribed above) with each other. Then,
when I noticed the folder for the main computer was gone, I opened the
workgroup view and clicked on the computer. Now, I get the following errors
for each pc.

PC 1 error: \\*name* s not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the adminsistrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.

The network path was not found.
(end of error 1)

PC 2 error: \\*name* s not accessible. You might not have permission to use
this network resource. Contact the adminsistrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions.

Access is Denied.
(end of error 2)

I have no idea what is wrong. Usually the network automatically fixes itself
when the access denied problem arises, but it hasent yet at all. And the
network path lost error has been around for quite a while for me now. How do
I fix these problems?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

Windows XP >> ACCESS DENIED \\*computer name here* is not accessible. You may... Hi,

The reason your machines see it in the newsgroup is because its cached there

Can you ping the ip or computer name?

Have you set the firewall on?

Can you ping the other machines or connect from the problem machine?

I have tried just about everything there is to try out there, and NO
USE!
Tonight I came across a possible solution posted at ('“Not enough
server storage is available to process this command.” error. » The
PC Doctor’s blog'
(http://www.pcdoctor-guide.com/wordpress/?p=174)). I tried it, I
restarted but before I checked the connections I disabled my second
network adapter (which comes built in my computer and I am not
plugged-into). Oh, and I also set my NetBios over TCP/IP to enabled
(Local Area Connection>Properties>(TCP/IP)
properties>Advanced>Wins>select the "Enable NetBios over TCP/IP" radio
button.
After restarting, I was able to see my computer from the network and
others see me as well! I wasn't sure what did the trick?
I believe disabling the second adapter is what did the trick. I enabled
it again and I could not see the computers on the network! Disabling the
second adapter again did the trick and I was able to see others and they
could see me. So try disabling and enabling your network adapters and
see what goes!
I hope this solves someone's problems. It seems that this is not an
error caused by one single thing! It has several reason, so keep
trying.
Oh, one more thing, I still cannot see my computer in the Workgroup
window, but I can access it by IP address or by name from the run
command from any machine (\\192.168.1.xxx or \\CompName)!
God bless.
