Windows XP Support >> Help Help Help with taskbar size Somehow I made the task bar at the bottom of my screen double wide so
systray icons are stacked three high instead of one line. I thought I
could just move the cursor to edge of taskbar until I get an arrow
then adjust the width. I can make it wider but not thinner. Am I
missing something?
email response not expected but to respond remove .uk at end
TIA

Windows XP Support >> Help Help Help with taskbar size Right click the taskbar then click to clear the Lock Taskbar option.

Move your cursor over the edge of the taskbar until it becomes a
double-headed arrow.

Left click and drag down to the single height.

Right click the taskbar then click Lock the Taskbar.

Now it can't be moved or resized unless the Lock Taskbar option is cleared
again.

If that doesn't work and you have Quick Launch...

Try small icons in Quick Launch and see what happens.

Right click the Taskbar | Select Lock the taskbar to unlock it | Right click
an empty area of the Quick Launch area and select View | Select Small icons

*View will not appear in the menu if the Taskbar is locked.

Also try placing all the toolbars, including the Quick Launch bar, on one
line then you can probably resize the Task Bar to one line.

I tried that but although I could move the bar up and actually make it
disappear below screen could only get double wide or greater. No

Taskbar is not locked and already have small icons

Turns out the problem was the quick launch width. Somehow when I added
a program that tried to place an icon in quick launch it caused the
width boundary of the quick launch area to wrap around to the second
line. When I got hold of the edge of the quick launch boundary that
was now on the left edge and moved it over the boundary moved back up
to a single line and all is well. Thanks for you help.
