Windows XP Support >> article id 315311 I've received a message during start up 'Windows could not start because the
following file is missing or corrupt: \windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys'
I tried to follow the article's suggestion but ran into a few problems:

1. the command ren c:\windowssystem32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.old yield
me a message simular to the name is not a file or directory. Going to the
directory and performing a dir confirmed that the file exist. Using the
delete or del command yielded me the same results.

2. after doing the expand command, the workstation just keeps rebooting
itself during startup

Windows XP Support >> article id 315311 I think the ren command given in the article is mistyped and should read
"ren c:\windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.old" and not
"ren c:windows\system32\drivers\isapnp.sys isapnp.old"

Try it over using the corrected path.
