new HD and xp2 hav DSL but intrnl modem now only fax

Windows XP Setup >> new HD and xp2 hav DSL but intrnl modem now only fax finally put in a larger HD (80g) that came with XP OEM (from JDR.Com)
installed xp but now I want to download an answering machine program for my
house phone but now all the programs show that modem (usrobotix winfax ) not
voice capable. was OK in win98 same hardware except I did add a USB2.0
card????? Also How can I install old drive ( 6g ) that still has win98 on it
so I can retrieve files to put on the new drive?

sites and NOT winupdate?

Install old drive as slave and copy data across, you cannot transfer
programs

stick I can probably copy stuff I need from the slave to the stick then back
to the new drive I have an old gateway with a fried HD that someone gave me
but when I put my old 6G HD with W98 on it.. in the gateway and started up it
just shows the AMIBIOS screen with "press <f1> if you want to set up"... when
I do that it just sits there with the curser blinking away.
Also I don't understand what you mean about ?? MOBO Chipset and hw
drivers form where ???? the modem worked fine with the old drive and I
didn't take it out or anything when I put the new drive in.

Windows XP Setup >> new HD and xp2 hav DSL but intrnl modem now only fax You installed winxp, you then need to install the motherboard chipset
drivers from you mobo manu site, or from your PC manu site, if a large manu
like Dell/HP/Gateway for winxp.
You then need to install any other hardware drivers for winxp, eg your
modem.
Win98 uses different drivers from winxp, because it worked in win98 doesnt
mean it will work in winxp, and your hardware, eg modem, may not be
compatible with winxp
