but when you try to print any page even a test paeg we get the message
Communication error.
The USB port is 1.1 version and Lexmark claims that this is compatible with
xp with sp1 or sp2.
But I am not sure if this model is compatible with xp sp2.
Everything else works fine other than printer.
Have done the upgrade twice.
When we try to boot from the xp home cd to do a format and reinstall we get
the message that says usbehci.sys is corrupted and so we cannot boot from CD.
called gateway since I bought this CD from Gateway and they said that I have
to install ME and then upgrade and I cannot perform the Clean install right
away.
I am really stuck here as I am not sure if this Printer is compatible with
any service packs.

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Windows repeatedly losing system config FileHiya,
For some reason xp is repeatedly losing the system config
file. Ever since I upgraded from 98 when XP, windows
will randomly lose or corrup one of the boot files and I
get the following error:
"Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
\windows\system32\config\system"
and then it prompts me to use the repair utility in
Windows. The only way I was able to fix it was through
reformatting. After I reformatted and reloaded it worked
great.. for about a year. It has now crashed on me
again. Any Ideas on how to fix, or what is causing this?
Thanks!!!

- Windows XP >> Password Protected Folder - I do not remember the password and ...In: microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser
Windows XP pro and IE 6.0
Some time has passed, but I recall putting password protection on two
folders that are located in my Desktop. When I tried to open the folders, I
only found one file that could be what I wanted. It is tn.4.cache with only
2670. KBs so it may or may not be the file. I originally backed up the
folder holding this file, but now the backup is corrupted so I was trying to
open the original folder. When I open the folder, there are two small files
and the tn.4.cache. Trying to open that one, I get stopped by an error
message saying it cannot be opened as it is not a valid win32 application
once. Other times I can't open the file because the programs I tried to use
do not work with the file.
I am wondering if I am just barking up the wrong tree and this is not even
my original file that I password protected.
Is there any way to determine what the file is and might contain. Am I
getting the error message due to the password protection or for some other
reason.

- Windows XP Hardware >> Computer configured in ACPI Multiprocessor but only using 1 cpuHi,
I have a dual processor computer and during the Windows XP install it set it
up as an ACPI Multiprocessor PC and both cpu's are listed in the device
manager. However, benchmarks only reflect the scores of a single cpu pc.
Also, in the task manager under performace, you should see 2 cpu graphs I
only see one and in the processes tab I don't have the option to 'Set
affinity' (which is to specify a process to run on a certain cpu).
My pc is 2x AMD Athlon 2800+ MP, motherboard is ASUS A7M266-D, 1gb of
registered ddr ram, ATI Radeon 8500 64mb DDR.
I contacted AMD they said it may be an operating system related problem.
thanks in advance.

- Windows XP Support >> SOLVED : windows explorer crash crashed when left click a folderSYMPTOM
I had a big folder full of files in the left hand pane, if I left
clicked it it would crash. If I clicked the plus -thus expanding the
folders- and then I clicked it, it would be ok. At one time when I just
left clicked it, instead of immediately crashing, it listed zip files
as folders in the left hand pane, then it crashed.
SOLUTION
I had added a file to that directory
the file was called something like
utopia-experience-S-5.8.7-w32install.exe
I guessed the funny name threw windows explorer off, because as soon as
that file was renamed, it was ok.
I had some copies of the suspect directory, and all had the same
problem. Each was ok after I renamed that file

- Windows XP >> Extreme slow connection after reinstallationI had been having a great experience with MN500 working on two XP Pro
systems.
Until I had to reinstall...
I have followed the same instructions, and set the correct WP Keys for
wireless networking, but I'm getting
annoyingly slow connection. The signal even shows Very good instead of
Excellent connection when I'm sitting right next to the router. Before the
reinstallation I was getting excellent signal when I was 50 feet away from
the router in another room. I had to reinstall because the lights kept on
flashing and were transferring data even though I was not online. Now
everything seems calm except for the speed.
Can anyone give me some pointers on how to fix this issue?
I even unchecked "Firewall" feature to see if it would fix the slowness.
But to no avail.
Thanks for any info.

- Windows XP >> Deleting hiberfil.sysHi All,
If I delete hiberfil.sys without turning off hibernation, will anything bad
happen? Will it be rebuilt if I try to hibernate?
I know how to get rid of it by disabling hibernation. I want to know if I
can delete it w/o doing that, and just have it rebuilt if/when I ever
hibernate my PC.
Thanks!

- Windows XP Update >> Clients need up to 45 minutes to boot windows since patchingHi,
I have a lot of trouble :-(
About 20 clients of our domain need up to 45 minutes to boot windows xp,
since I have patched these clients with 918899 and 920214 over wsus. The
rest of the clients are ok. When windows xp starts, it loads first the
network-settings. Thats ok, but the clients begin to hang for about 45
minutes by loading the computer-settings.
Does anyone know this problem?
Thanks for helping and sorry for my bad english :-)

- Windows XP Support >> Funny colors playing .wmv filesGreetings:
I just recently have begun having a problem in that .wmv files that
I've downloaded play back in funny solarized green/blue/pink colors.
Files that I have previously downloaded still play fine. But every file
that I've downloaded over the past 24 hrs has had this problem.
I thought maybe they were a different incompatible verison of wmv files
for the XP player. Is that possible? But it seems odd that EVERY file
I have attempted to download and play in the past 24 hrs has had ths
problem. My player is Version 9.
I also thought maybe something got scrogged with my player. But, as I
mentioned, files I've previously downloaded still play fine.
Any thoughts or suggestions???
