Windows UPdate Error after SP2

Windows XP Update >> Windows UPdate Error after SP2 I run windows update frequently. After installing XP SP2 from the MS
distribution Disk I now encounter an Error number: 0x8024402C. This error is
not listed in the trouble shooter or any of the other Update self help
resource. I Have shut down the firewall and AV but still enconyter the same
error.

Any Idea

Hi

You receive an "Error 0x80072EE2" or "Error 0x80072EFD" error message when
you try to use Windows Update

Hi

0x8024402c is:

WU_E_PT_WINHTTP_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Winhttp SendRequest/ReceiveResponse failed with 0x2ee7 error. Either
the proxy server or target server name can not be resolved.


The only thing I can find about this error is that for one person,
it was solved by opening for Internet access to svchost.exe in the
firewall.

Windows XP Update >> Windows UPdate Error after SP2 1. Remove invalid characters from the proxy exception list and then
clear the proxy cache.
Open Internet Explorer.
On the Tools, select Internet Options.
Click on the Connections tab.
Click on the LAN Settings.
Click on the Advanced button.
Please delete any entry in the Exceptions section.
Next, clear your proxy cache.
Click on Start, and then click Run.
Type cmd in the Open box to get a DOS prompt.
Type proxycfg -d at the command prompt, and press Enter.
Type net stop wuauserv at the command prompt, and press Enter.
Type net start wuauserv at the command prompt, and press Enter.
Now try the site again.
