losing icons in systray WinXP Home

I am losing icons in my systray in XP Home - and it isn't just the icons
being hidden - they aren't in either the hidden or the revealed view.
This is happening shortly after logging in - the process they relate to
(Mailwasher.exe) is still running but I have no way of using it - if I
use a quicklaunch icon it tells the process is already running.
Any advice welcome.

Re:losing icons in systray WinXP Home

I have the same thing happen here and it's only Mailwasher that does it, I
usually just bring up the task manager and end the process I'm then able
to open the program as normal again.
It doesn't happen all the time though so I've never really looked into the
cause and I know my machine is clean.
Maybe a line to Mailwasher will bring some details about this behaviour.

I've just done some uninstalling and reinstalling relating to another
program Counterspy, and updated my mobo on-boardsound drivers, and so
far, the Mailwasher icon is holding its own. Interesting to hear that
others have had a similar problem. I'll keep an eye on it.

Re:losing icons in systray WinXP Home

Hi Will not a lot <g>
I've sent an email to Mailwasher and await their verdict, got the reply
email back with my ticket number.
I think it has only been happening since the upgrade to version 5.2 but I
know since doing that upgrade it is slower closing when pressing the x
button <g>

Re:losing icons in systray WinXP Home

Found another quirk today that if right clicking the taskbar icon to exit
instead of having the program open and clicking the x button to close, the
icon goes away but mailwasher.exe is still running in task manager. Sent
another email to Firetrust with the new info and they are working on this
as well, so I await developments and will let you know.

You've got a weird system Joan - unless it's the 'computer cat' causing the
problem :-))

Re:losing icons in systray WinXP Home

Its OK Bruce the cats don't bother my keyboard it's on a slide out shelf
that goes under the desktop <g>

They are just annoying when I'm trying to read or type and usually in the
middle of doing that they jump on the desk right in front of my monitor so
I can't see much <g>
