stand-by shutdown issues
Windows XP773
Hi Everybody, I have a Dell Dimension 4550, with XP pro. I've had my computer about 1 1/2 yrs., and I have always used "power off" when I turn off my computer. A few days ago, I decided to use "stand by" when I power down. And I got a error message that said could not go to standby because of a problem with the driver for port-COM1 and that I may have to update the driver. However, using device manager,I couldn't update or uninstall the driver. So I disabled COM1 port, tried standby again, and got another error message for . BCM V. 92 56k modem, which uses a COM3 port. So I disabled the modem, which is not a problem now because I don't use COM1 port or the voice modem, and "stand- by" worked. But I may want to use these ports later, so does anyone know a safe way to manually delete these drivers so I can install newer drivers. And how about a file -path that will take me to the drivers. Thanks. -- your friend, Larry - |
