Could someone fix Microsoft Update to allow browsing during downloads?

Windows XP463
It would really help if Microsoft woke up and remembered they have a

browser now that, in one window, allows users to browse the web while MU

downloads stuff. As such,

NO MODAL WINDOWS ALLOWED!!!!!!

If you feel that's a good idea, open another IE window by starting

IE again and you're done.

New windows should not be required!!!!!!! I won't accept that. Either

IE is now multi-tabbed -- or not. Besides, I don't use IE except for

Microsoft sites. I was using tabbed browsers back when IE 7 was a mere

pipe dream.

Sounds like you need to switch to a new OS. Deep six it and take your

attitude with you. You've just trashed your chances for any future

assistance.

Re:Could someone fix Microsoft Update to allow browsing during downloads?

Who are you talking to? I am trying to make Windows and Microsoft

Update better. That won't "trash my chances for any future assistance."

Re:Could someone fix Microsoft Update to allow browsing during downloads?

Actually, I do use Firefox. There is an extension called IETab that

allows you to view sites that depend on IE inside Firefox -- and still

have them run inside IE.

With most of Microsoft's sites, that is sufficient. However, Microsoft

Update demands it's own window. At that point, you might as well

dedicate a stand-alone IE window to it.

Re:Could someone fix Microsoft Update to allow browsing during downloads?

The problem is that even when IE is not your default browser, you want a

Microsoft Update bookmark URL file. If Firefox is your default browser,

it takes a shortcut to IE, not Microsoft Update, to avoid opening

Firefox to view the website.

IE View and IE Tab aren't compatible.
