Is it possible to install Windows 2003 Enterprise on the server Rx8620?
This machine is a server HP, 2CPU 64bts, 16GbRam, 730GbHDD.
But there isn't any possibility to connect a monitor, only a terminal...
(obviously actually it run the OS : HP-UX 11.23).
Can anyone tell me if it's possible?
And if yes, the procedure to do it : trought EFI boot menu i guess...

Have not worked on my notebook (Evo N1050v) for a day or
two. When I switched on I received the following error:
Sub System Spooler Error - Sorry for the inconvenience.
Just love that! I tried rebooting, but still get the
same error each time the notebook starts up. Help

- Windows XP >> XP forces local save before network saveI have a PC that has been upgraded to XP Pro from Windows 98. There is
another (Windows 98) PC that is being used to store files.
Whenever we try to save files (usually from within Word) to the network
share on the other PC an error pops up about access being denied or
something similar. However if we save the file to the local C drive first
and then save to the network share there is never a problem. Bizarre !
Does anyone have any ideas?

when I go into Safe Mode,I have 2 choices,I can go to
Owner\Admin. or
Owner\Me , either way I have to sign in. I am alone on this stand alone
with a guest account that is off.
Is it safe to delete the O\A ?
When I sign in,(Me) in Normal Mode I am the computer administrator.

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Cannot run check disk: cannot open volumn for direct accessI get an error message trying to run check disk: cannot
open volumn for direct access. I can't get it to run in
safe mode either. I keep crashing. How can I open volumn
for direct access? How can I find out what is preventing
check disk to get into the C drive? It won't even work at
start up in safe mode... could you please send help to

- Windows XP Network >> Hidden from networkI've been running a home network for some time now using
a Linksys router with 4 computers, a wireless access
point and other stuff. I recently upgraded my Win2K
machine to XP pro, and everything worked OK for a while.
Suddenly, without warning or error, my machine cannot see
the other machines on the network and the other machines
cannot see me (all machines are either Win98 or XP Pro.)
I can successfully capture an IP address from the router
and the router shows me on the DHCP table. I can ping to
addresses on the Internet, but not one of the LAN
machines responds to a ping, nor can the other machines
ping me.
Yet, my connection to the Internet is unaffected.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> OT - AV CaptureI have my digital satellite TV feed hooked up via coaxial cable (from it's
RF output) to a TV capture card, and this works fine, into PC.
But hooked up too, on the other side of the room, is a SCARTed & RF'ed
VCR/DVD player combo - which plays to the TV fine - but I am not sure how to
feed it all to the PC.
What would be the best way to hook them all up so I can use the feed from
the Sat Decoder, VCR or DVD over RF cable? Or other ?
At present the centre of the RF feed to PC is from Sat Decoder - but can't
find a way to change this to include the VCR/DVD combo - which just feeds
the TV.
Do I need to centre on the TV? If so I don't think it has any output I could
RF to TV capture...

- Windows XP Support >> Task Manager disabledMy computer was just fine and my son was on some website and within 5 minutes
some SPY SHERIFF was on my computer and brought a lot of problems. I am
unable to pull up the task manager it says that it has been disabled by my
administrator, which is me and I didn't do it. Please explain how I can
enable it again. THANKS!! I do not know how it is legal for them to
download their programs on your computer without permission.

- Windows XP Security >> Cannot see HKCU or HKLM keysI'm signed in as network administrator into an XP Pro
machine. I got the Windows XP Registry Guide book by
Jerry Honeycutt. In that book, it states I should be able
to make computer-wide changes in the HKCU key. The
problem is, I can't see that key.
There aren't any known permissions set against the
administrator from viewing this. Does anyone have ANY
idea what would cause this, and how to fix it?

Windows XP >> Windows XP Installation
Currently I have a Korean Windows XP Professional in my pc. Since some
applications look ugly under my non-english XP, I'd like to change it to
English Version of Windows XP. Because I understand Korean xp is not
qualified for upgrade to english xp, I am going to upgrade from my old
English version of Windows 98 SE.
As far as I know, during the installation of XP, upgrade versionof XP seeks
qualified products to proceed installation. To do this, do I have to delete
all korean version of windows xp, such as windows directory? I am just
wondering if english windows xp upgrade terminates installation procedure
once it finds korean version of windows xp since it is not qualified or if
it still prompts message like "Insert qualified product cd" so that I can
insert my windows 98 se for validation.
What I want to do is English Windows XP upgrade installation from Windows 98
SE without repartitioning or formating and keep current file system. So, if
english xp upgrade cd finds korean xp professional during installation and
terminates installation, I think I have to delete some files or folders of
windows xp to make english windows xp unable to detect my korean windows xp
professional. In this case, what folder or file should I delete?

- Windows XP >> Fonts Change After HibernationIt seems that all of the fonts (desktop icons, web pages,
etc.) on my computer change after resuming from
hibernation mode. If I change the display settings the
fonts revert back to normal.
Any ideas on what's going on?

- Windows XP Network >> Strange Networking ProblemI have a small home network set up using a router. There is no domain; I
have a workgroup set up in Windows. It was working fine until last week.
Then it stopped for no apparent reason. I have two computers, nd running
WinXP Pro, and nl, running Win XP Home. Both can access the Internet
without problems. Both have Norton Personal Firewall correctly configured
to allow them to access each other. They can ping each other.
When, from computer nd, at the command prompt, I enter "net view \\nd", the
shared resources on nd are listed. When I enter the same command with nd's
numeric IP address, this message is displayed: "System error 53 has
occurred. The network path was not found." When, on computer nd, I enter
either "net view \\nl" or net view with nl's numeric IP address, I get a
correct listing of the shared resources on nl.
When, on computer nl, I enter "net view \\nl" or net view with nl's numeric
IP address, I get a correct listing of the shared resources on nl. When, on
nl, I enter "net view \\nd", I get the same error as above (53), but when I
use nd's numeric IP address, I get a correct listing of the shared resources
on nd.
When I view network places in Windows on nd, I see the shared resources on
nd only. When I do the same on nl, I see neither the resources on it or on
nd. Both computers can access the setup screen of the router.
I am at my wits end. If anyone can help I will certainly appreciate it.

- Windows XP Update >> Downloads fine but get error 80072EFD on installHi,
I am running XP SP1 (do not want to install SP2 yet) and am trying to
download the following updates:
Microsoft GDI+ Detection Tool (KB873374) [fails with errcode 80072EE2]
Security Update for Windows XP (KB824151) [fails with errcode 80072EFD]
Security Update for Windows XP (KB840987) [fails with errcode 80072EFD]
Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB834707)
[fails with errcode 80072EFD]
Q811114: Security Update (Windows XP or Windows XP Service Pack 1) [fails

I have tried to change the security settings as per postings in this forum,
but it doesn't help.
I previously tried to install SP2 but it failed, and our sysadmin does not
want anyone to upgrade to it yet. When I run windows update it goes to url
http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com. Does that mean that some of SP2 got on
there anyway? If so, how can I remove it? It doesn't show under "Add/Remove
programs" and my build version says: "Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633 (Service
Pack 1)".

- Windows XP Security >> CPU usage and problem enabling firewallMy CPU usage maximizes at 100% when I am connected to the
net. I connect through an Ethernet card and a cable modem.
In the taskmanager, I see that 99% of CPU power is being
used by "services.exe" and "svchost.exe"! This leaves
practically no resources for me to use for any other
programs, including internet browsing. The result is that
all programs that I try to launch run at a bare minimum.
I have a Pentium 4 at 1.7ghz and 500mb of Rambus 800 RAM.
I thought that some hacker might be messing around with
my ports, so I tried to enable the Microsoft firewall on
my network adapter. I received an errotr message,
indicating access denied. I believe that this also has
something to do with the problem.
If I disconnect my modem before powering up the system,
the problem does not occur. Once the network adapter
recognizes the modem, the CPU problem begins again.
Since I would like to continue to use the internet, I
would appreciate any help or guidance that anyone might
have.

- Windows XP Update >> Unable to update WindowsOperating System - Vista 32bit. Lenovo Laptop 3000 N100.
Consistently refusing to install 3 of the latest updates. In reading a help
article for Error Code 80070002, I renamed a directory. But I can't remember
which one. Now, I've fixed it to where my computer WILL NOT automatically
search for updates.
PLUS, I still cannot install those 3 files.

- Windows XP Security >> Will not search second user for spyware, etc?I have two users on my machine (WinXP/SP2). The Admin (me) and a limited
user. It dosen't seem that all the spyware stuff I have (SoyBot, AD-Ware, MS
Antispyware) searches the limited users files becasue I get different
findings when I run searches. When I search from my account everything looks
clean but when I run searches in the limited account all sorts of things turn
up (like Claria and a browser hijacker today).
I haven't run Norton Security in the limited account yet so I'm not sure if
thats even OK. I did notice that the Antivirus was grayed out for some reason
in hte Norton Security taskbar popup window .
How can I search my entire machine for spy and adware (and virus)?
My other problem is since the limited user has password access I cannot get
in and do searches without the limited user here. Also this user is not very
dependable to do these searchs so I need some kind of foolproof
tactic...(besides getting another user :))
Any help would be appreciated....

- Windows XP Security >> User Account Folder is BlankWhen I open the User Account applet in Control Panel, it is completely blank.
Same situation in the System Restore folder. I click on ? Help and Support
from the start menu and there is no response.
First encountered this when I opened my itunes and saw a message asking if I
wanted itunes to be my default media player. I said "yes" and it told me I
didn't have permission.
Started to reinstall XP from the Dell disk, got message that version is
older than current (SP2) and to please insert disk. No disk, did microsoft
update. Now when I go to microsoft update page, the page stays blank. Have
uninstalled/reinstalled Internet Explorer, no change. Help???

- Windows XP Network >> Restricting Internet Connection Sharing on LANHello,
I have a LAN in my office (20 pcs), with most of the machines with
WinXP and a couple with Win98, the server is an old computer running
Win98 and using ICS for internet sharing.
Now I need to restrict the internet connection to certain users instead
of share it to all user of the network, but all the users must still
have access to the local LAN.
I think I will need a "connection" per user (something like a VPN
inside a LAN), or a way to restrict which users can have internet
access (which sounds like I will need a domain or something). I would
rather stay with the first option (vpn-like connection) if that is
possible.
How can that be done? If needed we can buy a license to Win2K or
Win2k3, or even use Linux.

- Windows XP >> Change color of Windows ScrollbarI'd like to change the colour of the windows scrollbar in
Windows XP. In the Advanced section of Display Appearance
properties I can see a list of elements that can be
changed, including Scrollbar. But I'm only able to change
the width, not the colour. The colour buttons are
disabled. Is this "normal"? Is there a way to work around
this limitation?
