Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Microphone Problems Can anyone help me???

When I try to start using my microphone for inline gaming
or video chat, it does not work. I have tried going into
control panel, sounds, microphone, pest hardware, but I
keep getting the following message:

Error code 0x80004005

Then when I close this box down another opens with the
following

Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe - Use add/remove
program

This is the problem, as DpvSetup is not on my system.
Any ideas anyone

Duncan

Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Microphone Problems dpvsetup.exe is MS direct play voice test. You should have
that if all your direct play files are in order. Try
start> run> type "dxdiag" in the box w/o the "". Test
direct play from there. If that doesn't work try
downloading and installing directX 9.0. Its available
here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/search.aspx?
