- Windows XP Support >> Winzip 10.0 QuestionI know how to zip up a group of individual files.
Is there an easy way to zip a set of files in a group of nested folders? In
other words, suppose we have top folder A which holds Subfolders B and C. B
and C each contain a set of files or other folders, etc..
Is there an easy way to have Winzip to roll up all the files continued in
all the nested folders, without having to go into each subfolder and
individually add all the files?

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> More than four IDE on XP Pro/DVD not readingHello
I'm having problems with my DVD-burner for it doesn't always read disks.
If I boot up and there is no disk on DVD then nothing happens but when there
is a DVD-disk inside then it works OK.
Can this phenomenon be caused of that I have more than 4 IDE devices
attached ?
If so,is there any way to fix it?
3 SATA disks,DVD-burner +2 IDE disks.
Mobo is Asus P4C800-E deluxe and I'm using RAID-1 with 2 SATA-disks.
I have another problem with UltraTX2-card and booting but that's a issue
with Promise,not Windows .

anyway, however they became inoperative, they are so screwed that i cannot
even get rid of them. if i try to right-click to then pick from the

is it possible to find the entries in the registry perhaps and kill them

Windows XP Security >> windows security log doesn't have any entry
Hi,

restore all default settings and filter for all events. Still the security
logs are empty.
Is there something that can be done to fix it? I am very concern if the
system have been temper with to keep unauthorize log-in from being recorded
in the security log.
Pleaes note, its only the security log thats always empty in the event
viewer; The application and system logs seems to be fine.
Please help and provide your insite.
Thanks.

Windows XP Security >> windows security log doesn't have any entry
You need to enable the events you want to audit in the security log.
Go into your MMC and add the group policy object snap-in, then go into
your local security setting, local policies, audit policy and set each
event to audit success or failure.

... and then if you're interested in audit logs of access to files, you have
to also enable that in the security tab of the files and folders you wish to
audit. More info on auditing:

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Problem Saving A Edited ClipTrying to learn video terminology.
I edit a clip properly. The trim line is at the proper spot.
I split or cut and save the new clip.
I know that split and cut are 2 different actions.
Tried both-No luck.
What I don't understand is: When I get out of MM2 and then go
back, why does the original full clip show up instead of the edited
clip?
Example: Play clip to remove commerical. Commerical cut or split.
New clip saved. Get out of program and later restart. The
commerical is still there.
1) What am I doing wrong?
2) What happens to the clip I saved?
Thanks in advance

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> ultimate "remove programs"When I go into the "add/remove programs" section it has
several programs in there that are "unresponsive." That
is, I click on "Fisher-Price Big Action Construction" and
it says, "Unable to locate the login file 'c:\apps\kids
0801\DeIsL1.isu'. Uninstallation will not continue."
It's most probable that I did a lousy "uninstall by hand"
a few years ago, and the system still thinks it is
there. However, when I search for "Fisher" anywhere on
my computer it doesn't come up.
Is there something that tracks down these "add/remove
program" identifier files and then lets me get rid of
them? Or is there a better plan? Thank you.

- Windows XP Security >> Changing User AccountPosted this also in general
We have several computers in our office that were set up with Administrator
user accounts. I want to change the accounts to either a restricted user or
Power user. When I first tried changing to a restricted user I had a few
problems they were:
1. AutoCad would not open. Stated I needed to reinstall.
2. Could not open up a word document. Did not have rights to.. Just on one
machine, others were fine.
3. Half of the favorite links in Explorer did not work.
Changed user to a power user and it fixed problem 1. Have had to change user
back to administrator.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

- customize >> Windows explorer folder propertiesWhen I right click on a folder in windows explorer and
select the properties option, the size, numer of files
and subfolders displays 0. It used to display the size
and the contents of the folder. Can someone help me
figure out how to fix this option so that I can get
accurate values?
These are not system folders. It's occurring on all of
my folders. For example, in My Documents I have a folder
that I use to put various recipes into, that includes sub
folders for dishes, such as deserts, appetizers and the
like. I track the properties so that when the folder is
large enough I can burn it onto a cd.
Any ideas of why the properties will not display any

- Windows XP Hardware >> JMicron Technology Corp - GIGABYTE GBB36X ControllerI downloaded a hardware update from the windows update website with the
result that my dvd-rw is no longer accessable (i.e. not visible in "my
computer"). I know for a fact that this occurs only when drivers are
installed on my machine that deal with raid configurations etc (my
motherboard doesn't support this (GA965-DS3)). I learnt this through trial
and error when installing the motherboard drivers that came on the driver cd
and had the same missing dvd-rw drive scenario occur. This is what happens
when companies cut corners and ship 1 driver cd for different model
motherboards i guess.
The solution to getting my dvd-rw back when I installed the motherboard cd
driver was simply to un-install it and everything worked fine. However I
can't seem to uninstall this infernal windows update hardware version of
Gigabyte's raid driver as upon reloading Windows it now detects my hardrive
as a new pieve of hardware and promptly re-installs the driver downloaded
through windows update. The other annoying thing is that now I have a icon in
the on my taskbar that represents a plug and play piece of hardware (my hard
drive) and when I go to eject it it of course says it can't...no duh!
So I ask 2 things:
1. How to I un-install this driver that exhibits alot of characteristics
akin to spyware.
2. Microsoft needs to be more careful which 3rd party companies it allows
into their update service.

The result of which was no HTTPS pages would load.

again.
Any ideas?

- Windows XP Perform Maintain >> Windows XP RepairAfter I changed the mother board etc on my computer I did a repair set up of
XP which seemed to work OK except that at one stage (nothing particular
happening) the screen went blue due to a stop situation and then a message
appeared:
Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disc
Followed by a count down to about 100 and then the computer rebooted and
everything was OK.
An error message was sent to Microsoft which said something about a paging
error in a non paging area and suggested an updated graphics driver. As the
driver was the latest NVidia driver I am somewhat perplexed as to what
actually happened. Any suggestions please?

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Transferring collections to a different Windows UserHow do I transfer or copy my collections to another Windows User on the
same computer?
I just started using Windows Movie Maker. After working with it for awhile,
I decided to set up a separate Windows User, to use Movie Maker in.
Now I would like to move all the collections I've been working on to this
new user, but I can't figure out how. I tried copying the MEDIATAB1.DAT
file to the corresponding directory for the new user, but then when I start
Movie Maker as that user, it doesn't use that file. In fact, it deletes
that file and replaces it with a new one, with no collections.
