- Windows XP Basic >> Problem with Start/Programs WindowI have xpsp2 home edition. When I click start and point to programs, the
programs window is truncating (i.e. chopping off) the last entry (i.e. it is
below the damn screen border of my pc). There is just enough of it to get a
pointer to it,which will put up the little yellow labeling window.
How can I get the window to either raise itself up (there is a little space
above the top - less than a half an inch), or expand itself into another
column. Right now it displays two columns and they are full, and the last
entry in the right column is truncated.
I hope you see what I am getting at. If not write back and ask for more
info. I tried to explain it the best I could. If I added a new program, I
would think it would automatically add a third column, but I don't have
anything to add right now :-) . Thanks...Pete

- Windows XP >> very slow(almost none) performance from windows explorerI had some spyware/adware and a few virus that cleaned off
my machine with Lavasoft Adware and Norton antivirus. After
the removal the spyware/adware and the viruses, my system
still runs very slow. When I try to open my computer it
takes several minutes for it to open. Normally just a few
seconds. Same problem with control panel and internet
explorer.
What can I do to repair/fix windows explorer?
thanks for any help

- Windows XP Hardware >> Driver enabled but not yet startedNo sound after installing XP SP2. uninstalled, reinstalled. After searching
the net this seems to be a common problem I was directed to the plug & play
software emulator under system devices. It has the error message Windows
cannot load driver driver code 31. This I also uninstalled and reinstalled.
also tried a fix I found that involved deleting a line from allmachine. did
not work. So I did a clean install of XP yeah sound. Tried SP2 again once
again no sound and the same error messages. Contacted micosoft (useless) All
drivers are updated and XP Compliant. Everything points 2 the software
emulator (developed by microsoft) would greatly aprreciate some advice I have
a couple of programs that require the SP2 patch.

- Windows XP Support >> XP Pro Doesn't See Memory ???I have a Sony Viao laptop GRV670 on which I just loaded XP Pro. It was
running XP Home previously.
The system has 1GB of memory 512mbX2 dimms. Under Home it would
recognize the memory OK but since I loaded Pro it only sees 512mb.
I have loaded just about every patch from Sony and Microsoft, but still
no joy.

- Windows XP Setup >> asus a7v8x me to xp pro upgradeI get a blocking error that says my motherboard is
incompaitble with my video card. I have tried to upgrade
using ATI Radeon 9000 AGP, GeForce 2 MX 400 PCI, and S3
Stealth III, and get same error messages.
Is there a BIOS setting that I need to change to get rid
of this error possibly? Installing without upgrade works
fine, but I prefer to keep all my programs.
Thanks!

- Windows XP Hardware >> CPU usage symetricly fluctuates from 0-60% every 1 secondI was downloading a WMV file from ESPN.com and IE locked
up. I sent the error on. My CPU is now fluctuating from 0
to 60% usage every second or so and it is very symetrical.
My graph looks like an ekg with no change in amplitude of
the signal...I have no ability to enable or disable my
network so I cannot access any websites through my cable
modem. I have searched viruses, spyware, and task manager
apps and process without finding any rouge program
running. Any idea what could have caused this? Any idea on
how to fix it? Any idea on how to prevent this from
happening in the future?

- Windows XP Support >> uninstalling softwareHi,
Purchased a slightly used laptop w Office xp already added; however, Word
has a slight glitch. In trying to uninstall the old version registered to
previous owner and install my own, I run into an inability to uninstall. The
Add/Remove program doesn't seem to see the older version, only mine. Tried
the registry removal microsoft -ware; didnt help. Tried installing my version
into the old Office 10 folder; it installed and a new folder was created
within the original office 10 folder containing the old version. When I open
Word from either folder (presumably mine or that of the previous owner), the
version of Word that opens is registered to the previous owner.
I would appreciate any advice y'all might have.
Thanks.

- Windows XP Hardware >> Strangeneww with new USB key and password/mouse comboHi,
I have XP Pro and have used a normal kb and mouse.
I decided to buy a USB MS fingerprint/mouse combo and a USB MS kb. I also have
a USB2 PCI card.
Now when I cold boot, it stays at the MS XP choice black screen after the bios
and doesn't act to the kboured or mouse.
It is not until I re connect the old mouse and old PS2 kb that it gets past
this screen and loads XP. I can then take them off and use the USB ones.
This seems rather a crazy way to do it and MS could not have this in plan.
So, what am I doing wrong to have this happen.
Thanks

- Windows XP MovieMaker >> Vista: WMM wont preview & export quality is distortedHi there,
I have spent massive amounts of time creating & editing a certain video.
2 problems:
When I export it, the colours on the video are severley distorted and the
video actually stops some way through (audio keeps going) the video then
comes back later.
And so I decided that I was going to preview the video and then do a video
screen capture to get around it.
Now the video wont even preview! i just press play and nothing happens.
I have an intel chipset which apparently there is a hotfix for..I applied
for thehotifx, as informed that I would be helped in 8 business hours...but I
have now applied multiple times with no response.
Can anyone help me?

- Windows XP Support >> Deletion of Rundll32Yup. I deleted it. I misread something about it & deleted it. It's gone, I
deleted it through SB Search & Destroy's secure shredder. I know it wasn't
smart of me & no I'm not an idiot on the computer. I'm using XP home edition.
I can't find my Windows XP cd, but I do have my Restore CD. I'm not going to
restore my computer, but if there is a way to get it off of there then maybe
I can do that. If I can go to microsoft support & get it from there then let
me know. I'd like some help quick. It doesn't hinder me majorly, but I can't
do my control pannel, or other standard system stuff like that.

- Windows XP Update >> INFO for web postersIf you copy this link and paste it
in your browser's Address window:
=>| news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate |<=
(don't copy the arrows or the bars - just copy the middle part)
Then you should not have to struggle with the web interface.
This WindowsUpdate group ought to open up in Outlook Express,
a much better interface, and there's no .NET Passport Sign-in!
